Bulldogs challenged by Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. - The eighth-ranked Fresno State equestrian team was topped 16-4 by No. 2 Georgia on Saturday at the UGA Equestrian Complex. The Bulldogs are now 3-8 (3-2 UEC) on the season in advance to hosting a doubleheader March 18-19.
The Western side was represented with two respective victories by junior Taylor Brown after she defeated her Georgia opponent 73-65.5 in Horsemanship and 70.5-70 in Reining.
Two Bulldog Hunt Seat riders tallied wins on Saturday including Kylina Chalack (84-80) who earned the lone point for Fresno State in Equitation on the Flat and Sierra Swaffar (60-50) with only point Over Fences.
After Saturday's slate, second-ranked Georgia advanced to 9-2 (4-2 SEC) on the year following a 15-4 triumph over K-State during opening day of the weekend-stretch.
The No. 8 Fresno State equestrian team opened a challenging weekend doubleheader with an 8-7 loss to No. 10 Kansas State on Friday afternoon. Despite falling short by one point, the ‘Dogs topped K-State in two divisions - Horsemanship (3-1) and Equitation on the Flat (2-1) – and tied in Reining (2-2).
Next up, Fresno State will return home to host Baylor and South Dakota State (March 18-19) for what will be senior weekend at the Student Horse Center. The remaining 2015-16 schedule will round out at the UEC Championships, followed by a shot at the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) title.
