FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State freshman Sarah Bloise has been named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week, the MPSF announced Monday.
This is Bloise's first career weekly accolade and the first Bulldog to receive a weekly honor since Meganne Weissenfels was named MPSF Defensive Player of the Week on March 30, 2015.
Over two road games last weekend, Bloise averaged 3.5 points (6 goals, 1 assist), 6.5 shots, 6.5 draw controls and 1.5 ground balls, including a five-goal performance last Sunday against Campbell, in which she also recorded an assist and eight draw controls.
Last Friday, Bloise notched one goal, five draw controls and one caused turnover in a 14-10 win over Presbyterian.
Through the first five games of her Bulldog career, she leads the team with 23 draw controls and has notched seven goals on 16 shots on goal, an assist, four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Her 4.60 draw controls per game ranks 22nd in the nation.
Fresno State returns to action next Monday as it hosts Furman at the Soccer and Lacrosse Field at 5 p.m. PT. The game will air live on the Mountain West Network.
