DAVIS, Calif. - The Fresno State women's lacrosse team fell to UC Davis 16-6 on Tuesday afternoon at Aggie Stadium in Davis, Calif. However two Bulldogs made Fresno State history as senior Anjelica Fuccillo became Fresno State's all-time points leader (96) and junior Kyleigh Westgarth owns the top single-season mark for draw controls (39).
UC Davis (6-6, 4-3 MPSF) scored its first two goals of the game in the first four minutes, but the Bulldogs wouldn't allow another goal over the next 14 minutes as Fresno State junior captain Caroline Dineen-Carlson and junior Alex White each scored a goal to tie the game at 2-2.
The Aggies would score twice more before Dineen-Carlson notched her second goal of the game to keep it close, but UC Davis found the back of the net four more times to go into the half with an 8-3 lead.
The momentum continued for the Aggies, as they scored six unanswered goals to start the second half before Bulldog freshman Ryleigh Bone scored her fourth goal of the season and junior Chelsea Hall found the back of the net for the sixth time this year. But it wasn't enough as the 'Dogs gave up two more in the final four minutes and Fuccillo scored her record-breaking point with less than two minutes to go.
Dineen-Carlson tied the single-season ground balls record with 28 this year and the Bulldogs won the draw control battle 13-10.
Fresno State heads home for Senior Day against St. Mary's on Sunday at 2 p.m. PT at the Fresno State Lacrosse Field.
