Swimming and Diving announces 2015-16 team awards

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State swimming and diving program wrapped up its 2015-16 season with the end-of-the-year dinner where team awards were handed out.
Junior Esme Gullick was named Most Valuable Swimmer and Junior Shelbie Holden was named Most Valuable Diver. This is the second-straight year that each of them have earned this honor and both were named team captains for the 2016-17 season along with junior Hailee Baldwin.
Gullick closed out her season in the Mountain West Championships after she placed sixth overall in the 400-yard Individual Medley, seventh in the 200-yard Butterfly and 11th in the 200-yard Individual Medley.
Holden finished 11th in the 3-meter dives at the MW Championships and advanced to the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships.
Other awards handed out were Most Improved Swimmer and Freshman of the Year to Ugne Mazutaityte and Most Inspirational to senior Lindsay Ruiz.
Mazutaityte closed out her season as MW Freshman of the Year and the MW Champion in the 200-yard Backstroke and finished third in the 100-yard Backstroke. She went on to swim at the NCAA Championships.
