FRESNO, Calif.- Fresno State lacrosse head coach, Jessica Giglio, announced the addition of Brice Queener to the Bulldogs coaching staff on Wednesday. Queener joins sixth-year assistant coach Sarah Lautenbach as the program's assistant coaches.
"We are extremely fortunate and excited to add Brice Queener to our coaching staff," Giglio said. "He has an energy and passion about him that inspires players to bring their best every day."
Queener spent three seasons at Rhodes College (Tenn.) serving as the head coach of the women's lacrosse team. He is the only head coach the program has had since it started in the 2013-14 school year. During his time at the Division III school, he compiled an impressive 36-11 record (.766). Â
Queener led the Lynx to a pair of SAA Championships and a regular season SAA title in 2016. He also has a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances on his resume as Rhodes College made it to the second round of the tournament in 2015 and 2016.
"Brice has proven himself to be able to recruit in a non-traditional area for lacrosse and win championships and advance to the NCAA postseason," Giglio said.
Preceding his stint at Rhodes College, Queener founded the first women's lacrosse team at the prestigious Hill Academy in Toronto, Ontario. He also coached the men's varsity, prep and postgraduate teams at Hill Academy, coaching over 60 student-athletes who went on to play NCAA lacrosse.
Prior to his time at The Hill Academy, Queener was an assistant coach for Georgetown University, Binghamton University and Siena College.
Queener played collegiately at Georgetown University for Hall of Fame coach Dave Urick. He played in every game of his four year career at Georgetown and helped the team win the ECAC league championship twice. During Queener's career at Georgetown, the team qualified for four straight NCAA tournaments and advanced to the Elite 8 in all four seasons.
"Brice's lacrosse background is extremely impressive; he possesses a wealth of knowledge from professional men's lacrosse spanning different collegiate divisions as well as international play," said Giglio.
Queener was drafted into Major League Lacrosse League by the Rochester Rattlers, where he played two seasons. He has spent the last four seasons playing for the Hamilton Nationals, helping them advance to the MLL finals in 2011.
"I'm extremely excited to join the Fresno State coaching staff," Queener said. "Fresno State lacrosse is clearly a program on the rise and I'm looking forward to assisting in the achievement of all of our goals on the field."
The Fresno State lacrosse team kicks off their preseason fall campaign against the New Zealand national team on Oct. 18 at the Fresno State soccer and lacrosse field, starting at 5 p.m. PT.Â
