STOCKTON, Calif. – Fresno State men's golf entered Saturday's final round at the Pacific Invitational in 12th. The Bulldogs would ascend as high as fifth place, but had to settle for ninth after a 6-under-par day. Alex Lee finished tied for fourth as the Bulldogs' top player. He posted an even-par 72 in the final round.
"The 'Dogs played well today," head coach Chad Spencer said. "It was good to see Justin and Kevin play well. I'm really happy for Alex as this is his best finish of the season heading into our last fall event at Poppy Hills."
It was a tale of two nines for Lee. He was 4-under-par on the front nine, but faltered a bit down the stretch going 5-over-par in his last six holes. Nevertheless, it was the best finish for Lee so far this fall, as he tied for fourth after shooting a 9-under-par 207 for the tournament.
Kevin Huff turned in his best effort of the tournament. He fired a 3-under-par 69, the first sub-70 round of his collegiate career, and finished tied for 72nd.
After struggling during the first two rounds, Justin Avery bounced back by also carding a 3-under-par 69. The senior finished tied for 76th.
Michael Cliff finished second on the Bulldog leaderboard after a consistent weekend. After shooting 1-over-par and even par the first two days, the freshman finished with another even-par 72 in round three. Cliff finished tied for 37th overall.
Lane Pulliam shot 9-over-par 81 in the final round and individual Cameron Delaere posted a 1-over-par 73.
Fresno State will wrap up its fall schedule at the St. Mary's Invitational on Nov. 6-8 at Poppy Hills Golf Club.
