Game Notes
Fresno State head coach Rodney Terry on what he took away from tonight's game…
"We knew it was going to be a game where our size was going to be an advantage for us. We looked at that as a positive for our big guys to have to go with guys who are able to go up off the bounce and make some big shots. We will see some teams throughout the course of the year, and into conference play, who are a little bit smaller and can step out and make shots. They can be bigger and step out and make shots, too. So, this is really good for these guys this early in the year to be able to guard some smaller guys. We needed to try to put our will on those guys in terms of trying to exploit us being bigger and playing bigger. We didn't want to go into the game playing small. It gave us a good look in terms of pressure and we needed to work on our pressed offense against a pressed defense in game-like situations. It is going to make us better in that regard. This time of year you don't always see a lot of pressure. This was a good game in that regards and it gave us a lot of different looks."
Â
Terry on reaching the "Coach Terry pace" for the team…
"We are a ways away from that, especially in terms of offense. At this time of year, it is not about facing opponents, it is about us trying to improve in all aspects of the game. I do think this year's team is going to have the chance to be a good offensive team. We have guys that can score in transition - it is just a matter of getting the ball and getting the chance to make the most of the whole 40 minutes. I think we did a good job at that up at Saint Mary's. For this time of year, I think we are doing good in our transition so far."
