Quotes:
Head Coach Rodney Terry on the tempo of the team at this point of the season…
"I'm really trying to challenge the team right now to play with a lot of energy, activity and communication. This month is huge for growth in terms of our defensive intensity and we have to set the tone defensively every game. We don't know if we're going to shoot the ball well every night, but we have to know every night we're coming in that we're going to compete really hard and have each other's back in terms of communicating and getting out there defensively."
Head Coach Rodney Terry on pick and roll defense…
"That was definitely an area we had to try and improve our rotations, our tags, and we still have room to grow in there. But we're definitely getting better. Our guys are more conscious and getting more aware of the role guy and our rotation out of that action. Our guys are doing a much better job of communicating."
Head Coach Rodney Terry on sophomores and juniors leading the scoring…
"The best teams in the country are teams that on any given night, you could have a different guy that leads you in scoring. I think that this team has that type of makeup, where on any given night, any guy could be our lead scorer. This is going to be an unselfish group in terms of sharing the basketball. We're getting better and you're going to see us get better every day. We had 23 assists tonight, our ball movement was really good and guys are watching and paying attention to details. We need to balance scoring, and our older players know what we expect from them."
Junior Guard Sam Bittner on his three-point shooting tonight…
"I'm not really concerned about how I shoot, I'm more focused on my defense, and the way our team performs on the defensive side. We pride ourselves on setting our tone defensively so it felt good to have a good defensive side to make me be able to go perfect from the three-point line."
Junior Guard Deshon Taylor on pressuring the ball…
"Yeah, that was our strategy going into the game, to pressure the ball. We try to be the best defensive team in the conference so we have to start doing it now."
