Spencer inks two commits for 2018-19 season

FRESNO, Calif. – Head coach Chad Spencer has announced the signings of two student-athletes during the early signing period. The commits will be set to join the Fresno State men's golf program come the 2018-19 season.
Tyler Gardner – Fresno, Calif./Clovis West HS
NLI received: Nov. 8, 3:53 p.m.
Prep Accolades: Finished in fourth place at the California State Junior Tournament… First place finish at the Junior Northern California Tournament (shot 66-69)… Medalist two consecutive years at NCGA qualifying with rounds of 70 in 2016 and 67 in 2017… High school TRAC League MVP by 11 shots and area champion with a 66 at Riverside… Fourth place at the American Junior Golf Association at Lake Merced with a 67 in the second round.
Spencer's Comments: "Tyler is a tremendous athlete and an accomplished local player. Not only will he help us on the course but he is a leader in the classroom as well. We are happy to welcome Tyler to the Bulldog golf family."
Tommy Stephenson – Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad HS
NLI received: Nov. 13, 12:12 p.m.
Prep Accolades: Finished ninth at the SDJGA IMG Academy Junior World Golf Championships with two rounds under par (70, 71)… Took fifth place at the Insperity Invitational/Patrick Reed AJGA Junior Championship… Captured second at the SCPGA TTC College Showcase with two rounds under par (70, 71)… Won the 8th Annual Callaway Scholastic Junior Championships with rounds of 67 and 72.
Spencer's Comments: "Tommy has a ton of natural ability and a competitive fire that has made him a top player on the west coast. He is the type of player that will make an impact immediately and we can't wait to see what he does on the course."
