'Dogs travel to Texas for MW Championships

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Fresno State women's swimming and diving team will travel to Texas for the 2017 Mountain West Swim and Dive Championships, Feb. 15 through Feb. 18.
The meet will be held at the Texas A&M University Natatorium.
Fresno State looks to climb the MW scoreboard and have as many Bulldogs qualify for the NCAA Championships as possible.
The Bulldogs are coming off a 10th place finish in last year's MW Championships, highlighted by Ugne Mazutaityte's gold medal performance in the 200 Backstroke.
Fresno State, in its sixth year in the MW, finished the season with a 6-3 dual record which is the best dual record the Bulldogs have had over the past nine seasons.
"We are exactly where we want to be going into conference championships," said head coach Jeanne fleck. "We have improved meet after meet all season long and we are at our best right now. We are ready to score some major points, improve from last year and break some school records."
Fresno State capped off its season defeating San Jose State 172-128. This was the first time the Bulldogs have bested the Spartans since 2003.
Ugne Mazutaityte continues her backstroke reign
The sophomore recorded a NCAA 'B' cut time in the 200 Backstroke (1:55.77). Mazutaityte ranks third in the Mountain West in the 100 Backstroke (54.14) and ranks seventh in the Mountain West in the 1000 Freestyle (10:12.39). Last season, Mazutaityte took first place in the 200 Backstroke (1:54.47) at the Mountain West Championships. She holds the Fresno State record for the 200 Backstroke (1:54.47) and the 100 Backstroke (55.18).
Outside of backstroke, Ugne holds the team's fastest times in the 200 Freestyle, 500 Freestyle and 1000 Freestyle this season.
Mendolicchio making a name for herself in the MW
The freshman recorded a NCAA 'B cut' time in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:15.24, ranking third in the Mountain West. She holds the Fresno State record in the 200 Breaststroke. Mendolicchio ranks sixth in the Mountain West in the 100 Backstroke (1:02.62)
Holden looks to finish her career strong
The senior qualified for NCAA Zone Diving on all boards this season. Holden has qualified for NCAA Zone Diving on all boards for three consecutive years. She holds the third-best average on Platform in the Mountain West (221.56). Holden logged a season-high score on the Platform of 232.20. She holds the 12th-best average on the 1-Meter in the Mountain West (250.82). The senior had a season-high score of 286.80 on the 1-Meter. She holds the ninth-best average in the Mountain West on the 3-Meter. She recorded a season high score of 288.68 on the 3-Meter.
Gullick not to be overlooked
Although the senior's highest ranking time in the MW this season is 10th in the 200 IM (2:03). She holds Fresno State program records in the 100 Butterfly (55.05), 200 Butterfly (2:01.84), 200 IM (2:02.46) and the 400 IM (4:18.69).Â

Competition on Wednesday will begin at 2:30 p.m. PT with the 1-Meter springboard preliminaries. Each day will begin with preliminary heats in the morning, followed by finals sessions at 8:30 p.m. PT. Saturday's finals session will begin at 8 p.m. PT with the annual Senior Recognition Ceremony.
