'Dogs topped 66-57 at New Mexico

White leads Fresno State with fourth 20-point game of the season.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Despite a 24-8 stretch during the second half, Fresno State saw New Mexico pull away with a fourth-quarter run to top the Bulldogs 66-57 on Sunday at WisePies Arena.
Candice White led Fresno State in scoring with 20 points, but she was the only Bulldog in double figures compared to New Mexico which had three players in double figures, including Cherise Beynon who notched a triple-double with 15 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists.
New Mexico jumped out to an early 8-0 lead as the 'Dogs opened the game by missing its first six shots to force an early timeout. The Lobos held a lead throughout the quarter, taking a seven-point advantage in the second. Fresno State cut the deficit to three early in the period but New Mexico ended the half outscoring the 'Dogs 15-5.
The Bulldogs opened the second half turning the tables on New Mexico, holding the Lobos scoreless for the opening 6:40. The 'Dogs picked up early 3-pointers from White and Kendra Martin as they ran out to 10-0 run to pull within three at 35-32. Just over a minute later, though, the lead was back up to eight after a 3 from Leneah Bryan. Fresno State struck back again late in the quarter, sparked by a trey from Saraya Smith with 58 seconds on the clock, White followed with a pull up from 3 with three seconds remaining to push Fresno State with one at 43-42 headed into the fourth quarter.
Outscoring the Lobos 20-8 in the third, the Bulldogs' strong play continued early in to the final period. A layup from Bego Faz Davalos 14 seconds in gave Fresno State its first lead of the game. The junior center came right back a minute later and knocked down a baseline jumper extend the lead to three. The shots then stopped falling for the 'Dogs and New Mexico started finding the bottom of the net. The Lobos quickly hit a spurt with a pair of baskets that was followed by a 3 from Jayda Bovero. White tried to halt the run with a jumper of her own.
The Bulldogs pulled within six with just under four minutes to play, but Bryan got loose and knocked down an open look from outside to push the Lobos' lead to 59-50 and extend their five-minute run to 16-4. Fresno State would only get as close as seven the remainder of the game.
How It Happened: Fresno State held a three-point lead just over a minute into the fourth quarter but from that point New Mexico went on a 16-4 during the following five minutes to take a 59-50 lead with 3:28 to play.

- Katelin Noyer grabbed a season-high seven rebounds to go with nine points
