Gold for Mazutaityte and Bronze for Gullick to finish the MW Championships

COLLEGE STATION, Texas --- The Fresno State women's swimming and diving team wrapped up the 2017 Mountain West Championships Saturday night. The Bulldogs finished in seventh place with two medals.Â
The Bulldogs had their best day of the meet rising from 10th place to seventh place on the last day of competition.
"We had our best events today," said head coach swimming Jeanne Fleck. "We finished three places higher than last year and we are coming home with more medals than last year. I couldn't be more proud of our team and the way they fought back today."
The fourth day of competition was highlighted by sophomore Ugne Mazutaityte defending her Mountain West title in the 200 Backstroke with a gold medal finish. Her time in the event was 1:55.09.
Senior Esme Gullick continued her outstanding performance over the course of the meet by taking third place in the 200 Butterfly and breaking the Fresno State record with a time of 2:01.77, earning herself a bronze medal.
Sophomore Gabbie Libang helped put points on the board for the Bulldogs with an 18th place finish in the 200 Butterfly.
In the 200 Breaststroke, freshman Manuela Mendolicchio tied for 11th place with a final time of 2:16.33.
The Fresno State 400 Freestyle Relay team of Katelin Britton, Allison Short, Hannah Jarvis and Kali Conlon finished in 10th place with a time of 3:28.92.
On the Platform, Shelbie Holden led the way for the Bulldogs with a fifth place finish. The senior had a career-best score of 244.80.
Serena Sedillo came in ninth on Platform and Kelli Funk finished right behind in 12th. All three divers scored major points for the Bulldogs helping them propel into seventh place.
"All three of our divers had great performances over the course of the championships," said head diving coach Taryn Patrick "They were really consistent and scored points for the team on every board. I am so proud of them."
The Bulldogs were kept off the board in the 1650 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle.
