Bulldogs hold off UT Arlington, 4-1

Wilson clinches dual match with three-set win.
FRESNO, Calif. – In a three-plus hour match, that saw four singles matches go to third sets, Fresno State held off UT Arlington, 4-1, on Monday evening at Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.

The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead despite dropping a 6-3 result on Court 2 of double play. Fresno State grabbed 6-2 victories at No. 1 and No. 3.

The Mavericks tied the match at one-all as Agustina Serio topped Galina Bykova 6-2, 6-1 on Court 3. Juliane Triebe regained the lead for the Bulldogs at No. 4, avoiding a third set by winning a second-set tiebreak, 7-5. After falling behind 6-3 in her first set, Ndindi Ndunda responded on Court 5 with back-to-back 6-3 sets over Anna Wichert.

Emma Wilson then ended the dual match for the Bulldogs at No. 3. The sophomore fell behind 5-0 in the first set before winning four consecutive points, but she eventually lost the set 6-4. Wilson's momentum from late in the first carried into the second set as she leveled the match with a 6-3 result. The sophomore clinched the dual with a 7-5 victory in the third set.
Fresno State will travel to Honolulu, Hawai'i this week for matches against Gonzaga on March 16 and Hawai'i on March 18.
