Fresno State hosts Saint Francis on Wednesday

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State women's lacrosse team will wrap-up its six-game homestand by hosting Saint Francis Wednesday, March 22 at 5 p.m. PT in the Fresno State Soccer and Lacrosse Stadium.
Fresno State is 6-2 on the season, coming off a 9-8 win over Quinnipiac. The Bulldogs are having the most successful season in program history, breaking the program record for most single-season wins after they defeated Quinnipiac on March 16.Â
Wednesday will mark the first meeting between Fresno State and Saint Francis.
Saint Francis head coach Kara Concheck and Margaret Wolford are both Fresno State lacrosse alumnas.
Concheck played for the Bulldogs from 2011-14. She was a team captain for the 2013-14 season and was named the 2014 Attacker of the Year. Â She earned MPSF All-Conference Athlete honors in 2014. Concheck is the all-time leading scorer in program history.
Wolford played for the Bulldogs from 2010-13. She was named offensive team MVP in 2010.
Scouting the Red Flash
Saint Francis is 4-3 on the season, coming off a 13-12 win against Longwood University.
Saint Francis is led by its offense, averaging 13 goals a game.
Saint Francis is led by midfielder Holly Lawrence. Lawrence has recorded 27 goals, 31 points, 29 draw controls, 11 ground balls and six caused turnovers this season. She is No. 6 in the nation in goals per game, averaging 3.86. She is No. 46 in the nation in draw controls per game, averaging 4.14.
The senior has been named NEC Player of the Week three-times this season. Lawrence was an All-NEC selection last season.
The Red Flash were picked sixth in the NEC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
Fresno State is led by its offense
The Bulldogs have shown an aggressive offense to start the season, outscoring their opponents 103-79 through the first eight games.
Fresno State is No. 32 in the nation in goals scored per game, averaging 12.88.
As a team, Fresno State holds a 111-81 advantage in draw controls over opponents.
The Bulldogs have a shot percentage of 49 compared to the 36.4 shot percentage of their opponents this season.
Fresno State has a balanced offense with 11 Bulldogs scoring so far this season.
Rookies provide a boost on both sides of the field
Freshman Tiffiny Wallace leads the Bulldogs through six games with 24 goals. She had a career-high five goals against Mercer to lead Fresno State to a 12-10 victory. Wallace is No. 38 in the nation in goals scored per game with 3.17.
Freshman Marina Mayo, who has 15 goals, 12 ground balls, 10 draw controls and eight caused turnovers on the season, was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week for games played Feb. 6 through Feb. 12. She scored four goals and grabbed a team-high four ground balls in her collegiate debut to lead the Bulldogs to a 15-12 victory over LIU Brooklyn.
Freshman midfielder Kayla Galet, who has 17 goals on the season, was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week for games played Feb. 27 through March 5. She scored six goals on nine shots to lead Fresno State to an 18-6 victory over Presbyterian College. She grabbed one ground ball and caused two turnovers. The freshman was a perfect 1-for-1 in free position shots. Galet sparked an 8-0 Bulldog run in the first half with three consecutive goals.
Freshman goalkeeper Laurel Maunder has started all seven games of the season, owning a 5-2 record. She is No. 28 in the nation in saves per game, averaging 12.88 saves.
Maunder is No. 21 in the nation in saves, with 73 this season.
Maunder had a career-high 15 saves in the Bulldogs 9-8 win over Quinnipiac on March 16.

Fresno State returns 14 letterwinners, including last season's leading scorer junior Nicole Ortlieb.
Ortlieb set a new single-season school record last year scoring 34 goals. The Bulldogs also return two-time All-MPSF honoree and all-time draw control leader (112) senior Caroline Dineen-Carlson.
