Three Bulldog divers compete at NCAA Zone Diving Championships

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Three Fresno State divers are set to compete in the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships, in hoped of qualifying for NCAA National Championships. The three-day championships will take place Monday, March 6 through Wednesday, March 8. Northern Arizona University will host the championship meet in its Aquatic and Tennis Complex.
The field of competition has the highest caliber of athletes from the West Region in 90 combined men's and women's divers. A total of 22 schools from the Pac-12, Mountain West, Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and the Western Athletic Conference.
Senior Shelbie Holden led the Bulldogs on the boards this season. She was named to the 2016-17 Mountain West All-Conference team, after placing fifth on Platform at the MW Championships with a career-best score of 244.80. The senior qualified Zones for her third-consecutive year.
Last year at Zones, Holden finished 55th on the 1-Meter, 46th on the 3-Meter and 24th on the Platform.
Throughout the season, Holden held the third-best average on Platform in the Mountain West (221.56). She held the 12th-best average on the 1-Meter in the Mountain West (250.82). She held the ninth-best average in the Mountain West on the 3-Meter.
Sophomore Kelli Funk will make her Bulldog debut at the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships. This season, had the 18th-best average in the 1 Meter in the Mountain West (243.25). Funk had the 21st-best average on the 3-Meter  (244.83). The sophomore recorded a season-high score of 244.83 on the Platform this season.
Freshman Serena Sedillo will be making her Bulldog debut at the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships. This season, held the sixth-best average on the Platform (212.30) and the 13th-best average on the 3-Meter (264.55) in the conference.The freshman had a career-high score of 253.28 on the 1-Meter.
To qualify for Zones, the divers had to log qualifying scores throughout the season. All three Fresno State divers will compete Monday on the 3-Meter.
