‘Dogs suffer 4-1 setback at UNLV

Stloukalova upsets highest-ranked opponent of the season in No. 41 Carol Yang.
LAS VEGAS – The Fresno State women's tennis team saw its 19-match regular-season Mountain West win streak come to an end on Sunday at UNLV, falling 4-1 at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. It was the Bulldogs' first conference loss during the regular season since April 14, 2013 which also occurred in Las Vegas.
For the first time since March 8, Fresno State went into the singles play without the lead after dropping matches at No. 1 and No. 3. The Bulldogs went into today's match with a 2-5 record this season when losing the opening point.
The Rebels took a 2-0 lead in singles action after Georgia Lawson was forced retire in her match after trailing 6-3, 4-0. Anna Bogoslavets then defeated Juliane Triebe, 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 3 position to push UNLV's lead to 3-0.
Katerina Stloukalova pulled a point back for the Bulldogs on Court 1 after upsetting No. 41 Carol Yang in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. It was freshman's second win this season over a ranked opponent.
The match ended on Court 6 with Jovana Kenic defeating Ndindi Ndunda 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 to give the Rebels the 4-1 win.
Fresno State returns home on April 22 to host Nevada on Senior Day at Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center. The match will begin following the conclusion of the men's match which begins at 11 a.m.
