Maunder named Player of the Year at end-of-year banquet

 FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State women's lacrosse team held its Second Annual Lacrosse Legacy Awards Dinner and fundraiser Wednesday night at Sunnyside Country Club.  The team handed out 11 awards and celebrated the achievements of a team that broke 25 team records during the 2017 season.
Freshman goalkeeper Laurel Maunder received the honors of Player of the Year. Maunder finished the season with 134 saves, 25 ground balls and two caused turnovers. She led the Bulldogs to a record-breaking 178 saves in a single-season. The freshman set new program record for most wins in a single-season (9), win percentage (.556), saves per game (9.07) and save percentage (.477). Maunder recorded at least 10 saves in six games this season. She recorded a career-high 15 saves in twice this season. Maunder finished the season ranked No. 32 in saves per game in the NCAA, and No. 34 in total saves.
Freshman Tiffiny Wallace was named Rookie of the Year. Wallace led the team in goals (44), hat tricks (11), shots on goal (61) and goal percentage (.897). The freshman set new program records for most goals in a single-season and most hat tricks in a single-season. Wallace finished the season ranked No. 24 in the NCAA for total goals and No. 34 for goals per game. She ranked fifth in the MPSF in goals and seventh in points, this season. Wallace was a 2017 Second-Team All-MPSF selection.
Senior captain Caroline Dineen-Carlson took home the Midfielder of the Year award for the second consecutive year. Dineen-Carlson became the program's all-time leader in ground balls (98). Caroline is a two-time Fresno State Lacrosse team captain and a two-time All-MPSF Team selection. The Bulldog midfielder leaves the program playing in 60 games, scoring 71 goals, recording 137 draw controls, 94 ground balls and 48 caused turnovers. The senior holds the Fresno State Lacrosse program records for most draw controls in a single-game and most ground balls in a single-season. The Coronado, Calif. native can also find her name within the All-Time Top 5 of – 24 statistical categories in the Fresno State Lacrosse record book. Dineen-Carlson is leaves the program as the most decorated Fresno State Lacrosse player in program history.
Sophomore Sarah Bloise was named Attacker of the Year award and Draw Control Specialist of the Year award after resetting program records for most points in a single-season (61), most assists in a single-season (22) and most draw controls in a single-season. Bloise finished the season ranked fifth in the MPSF in points, fourth in draw controls (52) and 11th in goals. The sophomore recorded a career-high eight points in Fresno State's first win over San Diego State in program history. This season, she led the team in points (61), assists (22) and draw controls (52). Bloise was a 2017 Second-Team All-MPSF selection.
Sophomore Alex Romanowski received the honors of Defender of the Year. Romanowski led the team in caused turnovers (22) and had the second-most ground balls on the team (26). Her 22 caused turnovers ranked sixth in the MPSF this season. She recorded at least one caused turnover in 11 games this season. Romanowski had a season-high five caused turnovers against LIU Brooklyn. Â Â
