FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State volleyball program continues to add to its 2017 roster with the addition of junior college product Emily Dzubak set to join the team this fall.
A libero/defensive specialist who will enter the 2017 season as a junior, Dzubak arrives at Fresno State after spending a pair of seasons at American River College in Sacramento.
"Emily is a dedicated athlete," said head coach Lauren Netherby-Sewell. "Coaches who have worked with her or competed against her say she is super fun to watch and we agree. She's really strong defensively and comfortable with her entire game. She's speedy and athletic and I think she'll bring a mature vibe to the locker room," added Netherby-Sewell.
Helping the Beavers to a 39-18 record over the last two seasons, the Stockton native was a two-time First-Team Big 8 Conference selection leading the league in digs and digs per set in both 2015 and 2016. As a sophomore in 2016, she played in all 100 sets leading the Big 8 with 644 digs and 6.44 digs per set. She earned NorCal Regional All-Tournament honors and was named All-Northern California while ranking second in the state in digs. In a five-set win at Folsom Lake on Nov. 11, Dzubak had a season-high 46 digs and added 76 assists on the season.
"I choose Fresno State because of their academics and dedication to their athletes success," said Dzubak on her decision to become a Bulldog.
A 2015 graduate of Lincoln High School in Stockton, Dzubak was a two-time San Joaquin Section honorable mention selection, was a three-year letter winner and was named a captain as a senior.
Dzubak becomes the fifth newest Bulldog set to join the 'Dogs this fall joining Karina Felipe, Sydney Lostumo, Reagan Leonard and Jessica Gilbert. The 'Dogs get preseason practice underway in early August before their annual alumnae game set for Aug. 19 at 1 p.m.
