Holly Franks joins Bulldog volleyball coaching staff as Director of Operations

The Fresno State volleyball program is excited to announce the addition of former Bulldog Holly Franks to the coaching staff as the Director of Operations.
FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State volleyball program is excited to announce the addition of former Bulldog Holly Franks to the coaching staff as the Director of Operations.
A former 'Dog who was named the Mountain West Newcomer of the Year in 2013, Franks arrives back in Fresno after spending the last two seasons as the head coach at Porterville College in Porterville, Calif.
"We are very excited for another great alumna to rejoin our team," said head coach Lauren Netherby-Sewell. "Holly was a fifth-year senior stud when she played for us and came in for one year and made tremendous impacts on our program. She's a worker who is very tough and good with discipline. She comes to us with not only a wealth of experience as a former student-athlete and professional athlete, but she's run a junior-college program with very little assistance. She'll be ready for the fast-paced, problem-solving, organizationally challenging job as Director of Volleyball Operations. We are so happy to have her back as she has a great way of making teams better."
After graduating from Fresno State with a degree in philosophy in 2014, Franks went on to play a season internationally for Svedala Volley in Sweden before returning to coach at Porterville.
"Having the opportunity to be a part of the Fresno State Volleyball program is truly an honor," added Franks. "I owe many of my successes to Fresno State Volleyball and to be able to give back to the program as the Director of Operations will be a great privilege. This program has a special place in my heart and there is no better way for me to enter in to the world of Division I volleyball than to enter it under coach Netherby-Sewell."
A transfer from Cal Poly who spent 2009-12 with the Mustangs, Franks had an outstanding lone season as a 'Dog earning MW Newcomer of the Year in Fresno State's first year in the conference. She ranked in the top 20 in the Mountain West in aces (fourth, 0.31 p/s), points (eighth, 3.52 p/s) and kills (17th, 2.80 p/s) and led the team in season averages for aces, and stood second in blocks and points and third in kills. She recorded 17 double-digit kill totals on the season and had 10 matches with multiple aces. Franks earned Academic All-Mountain West honors and was named the UC Irvine Tournament MVP, and was named to the Portland Nike All-Tournament Team as well as the Fresno State Invitational All-Tournament Team.
A local product from Tollhouse, Calif., Franks graduated from Sierra High School in 2012 where she was a three-year letter winner for the Chieftans and was a three-time All-North Sequoia League honoree. She was named the NSL Most Valuable Player as a junior in 2007 after averaging 2.3 kills and 1.2 blocks per set and recording 29 aces. She also earned three letters in basketball and was named the NSL Most Valuable Player for the 2007-08 campaign as well as being a four-time letter winner in track and field.
