Crow, Layne Selected to Smittcamp Family Honors College

FRESNO, Calif. – Two of the 12 freshmen that Fresno State head coach Natalie Benson has brought in for the Bulldogs' inaugural water polo season were recently awarded an esteemed academic honor as Shannon Crow and Maci Layne will be members of the Smittcamp Family Honors College.
"Maci and Shannon are exceptional young ladies, and we are excited to have them as a part of our Bulldog family," Benson said. "The Smittcamp Family Honors College is a unique program for the remarkable students in the Valley, and we are very proud to have two of our incoming freshmen awarded with this prestigious honor."
The Smittcamp Family Honors College is regarded as one of the top honors colleges in the Western United States. Every year, the college admits 50 "President's Scholars" into its program. These high school students must score at least 1800 on the SAT or 27 on the ACT, be in the top 10 percent of their respective graduating class or have a minimum GPA of 3.8 in college prep courses.
With Crow and Layne receiving the honor, a solid academic tone has already been set for their fellow freshmen teammates.
