Fresno State outlasted by Boise State, 75-66

BOISE, Idaho – Holding a five-point lead late in the third quarter, Fresno State was outscored by 14 during the final 12 minutes to at Boise State, falling 75-66 on Wednesday night at Taco Bell Arena. The loss moves to the Bulldogs to 8-8 overall and 3-2 in the Mountain West.

Candice White led the 'Dogs on the night with her second 30-point game of the season, pouring in 15 points in each half. Freshman Aly Gamez added 16 points alongside her backcourt mate. Riley Lupfer led Boise State with 26 points, shooting 6-of-9 from 3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 13-8 midway through the opening quarter, Gamez got the 'Dogs back on track as the freshman dropped in three 3's in two minutes late in the quarter, propelling Fresno State to a 13-2 run. Gamez's stretch helped give the Bulldogs a 21-17 lead after the first quarter. Boise State saw 16 of its 17 points come in the paint as the 'Dogs were unable to find an answer inside.

With the 'Dogs holding a 23-22 lead early in the second, White got going from the field, scoring eight of the Bulldog's 13 points during a 13-4 two-minute spurt to take a 36-26 lead midway through the quarter. The Broncos though closed the gap, and trailed just five at the half after shooting 10-of-14 from the field in the period as both teams were north of 50 percent from the field.

The shooting cooled off early in the third quarter, and the Bulldogs held a 56-51 lead with 2:04 remaining in the quarter after a layup from Breanne Knishka, but the shots stopped falling for the 'Dogs from that point. Fresno State missed its next 11 shots as the Broncos raced out to a 20-2 run during the next six minutes to take to a 13-point lead with 6:19 on the clock.

Boise State would hold its lead the remainder of the way as the Bulldogs shot just 2-of-13 from the field during the final quarter to fall by nine.
