Fresno State claims eighth place at Pepperdine Waves Challenge

SOMIS, Calif. – Fresno State men's golf wrapped up play at the Pepperdine Waves Challenge at Saticoy Country Club on Tuesday afternoon. The Bulldogs came into the day tied for eighth and ended the day in the same position on the team leaderboard. Alex Lee tied for 10th and was the top individual finisher for the 'Dogs after shooting a 9-over-par 225.

The golfers began the day by finishing round two, which was suspended due to darkness yesterday, and then concluded the tournament with the third and final round.

Lee was steady on Tuesday. He shot an even-par 72 in the second round and capped his strong showing with a 3-over-par 75 in round three.

Lane Pulliam struggled during the first two rounds but carded a solid even-par 72 in the final round to finish tied for 37th overall and second on the Fresno State leaderboard.

After shooting 3-over-par on the front nine, Michael Cliff shot 1-under-par on the back in round three. The freshman finished tied for 40th after his 2-over-par 74 in the final round.

Kevin Huff, the third freshman in the Bulldog lineup, carded a 5-over-par 77 in the third round to finish tied for 43rd overall and fourth on the 'Dogs leaderboard.

Justin Avery shot a final-round 81, as the senior was never able to find his groove during the two-day tournament.

Fresno State is back in action on Feb. 15-17 at the John Burns Intercollegiate. Hawai'i will host the three-day tournament at Wailua Golf Course in Kauai.
