‘Dogs open spring in the Lone Star State with pair of ranked foes

The No. 6 Fresno State equestrian team (3-3) has geared up to start its spring slate on the road at No.7 TCU (3-5) on Feb. 2 at 8:00 a.m. PT followed by taking on No. 4 Texas A&M on Feb. 3 at 9:00 am PT.

Last Time against the Horned Frogs & Aggies
Fresno State and TCU last met on Feb. 11, 2017 where the 'Dogs saw a 12-6 loss in Springtown, Texas. The Horned Frogs hold an 11-8 all-time record against the Bulldogs. Fresno State saw two losses to TCU last season also falling at home by a narrow margin losing 1423.5 to 1369.5 in total points.
The Bulldogs and Aggies last faced off earlier this season on Sept. 22 for Fresno State's home opener of the 2017-18 season. Texas A&M left with a 14-5 victory while Fresno State has not defeated Texas A&M in their last 10 contests.
Scouting the Horned Frogs
Then-No.9 TCU is coming off of a thrilling 11-8 victory over then-No.3 Texas A&M on Jan. 25, 2018 in part of the annual Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo meet. The win over the Aggies snapped the Frogs' three-game losing streak.

Texas A&M is coming off of the loss given to them by TCU on Jan. 25. Prior to their matchup with the Frogs, TAMU fell at then-No.5 Oklahoma State, 10-8, on Nov.19, 2017 to end their fall slate and are riding a two-meet losing streak into the matchup with the Bulldogs.
TAMU saw monthly honors in November from sophomore horsemanship rider, Avery Ellis. Ellis was named the SEC November Horsemanship Rider of the Month after earning a 2-0 record that month as well as picking up one MOP. This award was Ellis' second honor of the season as she was named Rider of the Month back in September.
Quick look at the Bulldogs
The Bulldogs rounded out their fall season with a 3-3 overall record with a pair of wins over South Dakota State and a win over Delaware State at the Masterson Farms Invitational. Their three losses came from then-No.1 Texas A&M, then-No.2 Georgia and No.10 UT-Martin.
Fresno State last competed at the Masterson Farms Invitational on Nov. 9 and 10 against then-No.10 UTM and Delaware State. The Bulldogs split the weekend, falling to UTM but picked up the 11-5 victory over Delaware State for their last competition of the fall.
Junior Brooke Nelson was named the UEC Equitation on the Flat Rider of the Month for November. Nelson went a perfect 2-0 in the flat for the month while picking up one MOP. The junior had an average score of 83.5 and defeated her opponents by an average margin of 7.5 points.
The 'Dogs claimed a trio of honors in the month of September when sophomore Paige Barton received NCEA Shorty's Reining Rider of the Month honors as well as UEC Reining Rider of the Month for September.
Senior Sierra Swaffar claimed the September UEC Equitation on the Flat Rider of the Month honors while junior Taeya Harle was named the September UEC Horsemanship Rider of the Month.
