COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – On Tuesday the Mountain West Conference named Fresno State sophomore Serena Sedillo Diver of the Week for the second time this season. She previously earned the honor on Nov. 21 for her success at the Trojan Diving Invitational.
Â
Due to limited MW competition over the holiday break, the Diver of the Week honor covered the period from Dec. 9 through Jan. 7. Sedillo and the 'Dogs lone meet during that time was the home dual against CSU Bakersfield on Dec. 9, in which the sophomore led Fresno State to a 194-99 win.
Â
Against the Roadrunners Sedillo won both diving events. She won on 3-meter for the third time this season with a score of 315.15, totaling 104.32 points more than the top CSUB diver. Sedillo also claimed her first win of the year on 1-meter, scoring 251.63 and topping her teammate, Kelli Funk, by .08.
Â
Sedillo has qualified for the NCAA Zone Diving championships on all three boards, having recorded career-high scores on both spring boards this year. She missed the 'Dogs quad meet at San Diego State on Monday due to injury but hopes to return this weekend at the Bruin Diving Invitational.
