Bulldogs set for Mountain West Championships

Races to start 9 a.m. with the women's 6K, men's 8K to follow at 9:45 a.m. in San Diego.
FRESNO, Calif. – With four meets behind them, Fresno State will head to the Mountain West Championships on Friday at Morley Field at Balboa Park in San Diego.

BULLDOGS LINEUP
Racing on the women's side for the Bulldogs on Saturday morning will be Marlene Alcantar, Sydney Fox, Isabella Haberman, Maureen Jordan, Ellie Leather, Sami Shields and Sara Stevens. The men's participants will be Nathan Burd, Josue Del Real, Ronaldo Delgado, Matthew Founds, Alekos Mitchel, Jaden Uphoff, Michael Viano and Ryan Walker.

Competing in three races this fall, Sydney Fox has steadily gotten better with each result. Two weeks ago, the freshman clocked the third-fastest time in program history with a 20:46.3 6K at the Bronco Invitational. Along with Fox, Ellie Leather and Sami Shields each posted times that landed in the program's Top 25. On the men's side, Jaden Uphoff has led the men in all four races this season, with his times lowering in each race. At the Bronco Invitational, he recorded a time of 25:00.05.
BULLDOGS ROSTER BREAKDOWN FOR 2018
The men's squad returned four of its five runners from last season which includes Jose Aispuro, Matthew Founds, Alekos Mitchel, Michael Viano and Ryan Walker. Newcomers to the roster were junior Ivan Cisneros-Rodriguez and freshmen Nathan Burd, Josue Del Real, Ronaldo Delgado and Jaden Uphoff. The lone returners on the women's side were Ellie Leather and Sami Shields. Joining them were seven new athletes which included senior Marlene Alcantar, sophomore Sara Stevens and freshmen Sydney Fox, Isabella Haberman, Sophie Jimenez, Maureen Jordan and Hannah Wilson.
