Bulldogs close nonconference schedule with 39-point win over Fresno Pacific

The 39-point margin of victory is the largest for the ‘Dogs this season.
FRESNO, Calif. – Behind its largest scoring output since 2014, Fresno State routed Fresno Pacific 90-51 on Saturday afternoon at the Save Mart Center. It was a balanced offensive attack for the Bulldogs as five players reached double figures in the same game for the first time this season.

Maddi Utti scored a game-high 18 points in 20 minutes on 9-of-11 shooting, scoring 12 points during Fresno State's 30-point opening quarter. Aly Gamez recorded the second double-double of her career with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Bree Delaney and Candice White each added 15 points while Jordanna Porter added 12 points to go with six rebounds, and team-highs of four assists and three steals.

How It Happened
Fresno State opened up the game with a 12-2 run as Utti and White accounted for 10 of the 12 points. The Sunbirds though got back into the game, closing to within four at 16-12 midway through the quarter with a 7-0 spurt. The 'Dogs countered with a 10-0 run to take a 26-12 lead with two minutes remaining in the period. Fresno State led 30-21 after one as Utti led the Bulldogs with 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting.

Holding a 37-25 lead two minutes into the second, the 'Dogs made their move, shutting down the Sunbirds on the defensive end while knocking down their shots on the offensive side. It resulted in a 17-2 run during the final six minutes. The Bulldogs held FPU to 2-of-12 from the field in the period.

Fresno State brought the lead to 62-35 halfway through the third quarter with an 11-3 stretch, holding the Sunbirds to 0-of-7 from the floor to start the half. The Bulldogs took a 30-point lead into the fourth quarter as FPU was held to 10 points in the third.

The Sunbirds got as close as 27 with under six minutes on the clock but a pair of 3's from Genna Ogier and Delaney bookended a 10-0 spurt. That started a 16-4 stretch to end the game as the Bulldogs closed the night with a 39-point win, their largest of the season.
