FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State lacrosse team announced its 14-game regular-season schedule for the upcoming 2019 season on Wednesday. Of those 14 games, three will be against first-time opponents and five will be at home in the Fresno State Soccer and Lacrosse Stadium. The 'Dogs will also take on three Pac-12 opponents, one ACC opponent and one Big East opponent.
In addition to the regular season, the Bulldogs will compete in five preseason exhibitions, hosting three with one being the annual alumnae game, and the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championship tournament.
The 'Dogs will hit the road for nine regular-season games and two international exhibition games at Stanford along with the aforementioned post-season action at the MPSF championship tournament.
"Our team is excited to continue to add new opponents and challenge ourselves with our schedule this year," said coach Giglio. "Having teams from the ACC, Big East and Pac 12 conferences continues to strengthen our out of conference schedule. We look forward to this season and pride ourselves in executing one of our favorite Fresno State mottos. To quote former Bulldog football coach Pat Hill, 'Anyone, anytime, anywhere!'"
Fresno State will kick off spring action in an exhibition doubleheader against Japan and England on Jan. 25. The Bulldogs will then travel home to conclude exhibition play, hosting their annual alumnae game on Jan. 26, followed by matchups against Redlands on Feb. 2 and Occidental on Feb. 3.
The 'Dogs will open the regular season at home on Feb. 10, taking on UMass Lowell for the first time, then embark on a five-game road trip including three Pac-12 opponents with a stop in Las Vegas, Nev., to face off with Cal on Feb. 15 and Oregon on Feb. 17, followed by standard games at Stanford on Feb. 21, at Jacksonville on March 1 and at Stetson on March 3.
The Bulldogs will follow that with a three-game home stand, first squaring off against ACC opponent Virginia Tech for the first time on March 12, then taking on Radford on March 15 and Quinnipiac on March 17 for Senior Day.
Fresno State will conclude March with a two-game road trip against Bryant on March 29 and Brown for the first time on March 31, then come back home on April 6 for the first conference and final home game of the season against UC Davis.
The last two regular season games will be on the road at Big East opponent Denver on April 11 and at San Diego State on April 20 for the final conference game.
The MPSF championship tournament will be played April 26 through April 28 at UC Davis with seeding being determined at the conclusion of the regular season.
Head coach Jessica Giglio will be entering her eighth season at the helm of the 10-year-old program. After losing seven seniors last season, the Bulldogs regrouped by adding five incoming freshman in August. Along with the newcomers, Fresno State will return its top five goal scorers in senior captain Sarah Bloise, who led the team in goals and assists and was named to the All-MPSF Team a year ago, fellow senior captain Ryleigh Bone and juniors Tiffiny Wallace, Marina Mayo and Kayla Galet.
