‘Dogs fall at Wyoming, 74-57

Fresno State was outshot by 17.2 percent from field.
LARAMIE, Wyo. – Hot shooting throughout the afternoon lifted Wyoming past Fresno State, 74-57, at Arena Auditorium. The Cowgirls shot 55.1 percent overall on the day compared to the Bulldogs' 37.9 percent.
Jordanna was Fresno State's top scorer as the redshirt sophomore recorded the first 20-point game of her career, scoring 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting and 4-of-6 from 3. Candice White added 15 points and Kristina Cavey had 10. Taylor Rusk and Bailee Cotton led Wyoming with 19 points apiece.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Down 13 points after a five quick points to open up the second quarter, a 3-pointer followed by an and-one from Cavey started a 14-3 run. After Cavey's free throw, it was Porter who took over, starting with a layup that was followed by her second and third 3-pointers of the half. Despite the run, Wyoming continued its efficient shooting from the field at 54.5 percent for the quarter to hold a 35-28 lead at the half.
Fresno State struggled to get shots to fall in the third, missing its first eight as the Cowgirls built 48-28 lead. White knocked down three 3's in the final minutes of the quarter but hot shooting from the Cowgirls saw them take a 56-40 lead into fourth.
While the Bulldogs had its best quarter in the fourth, shooting 53.8 percent (7-of-13), the Cowgirls were still 5-of-9 (55.6 percent) in the final period and 8-of-8 from the free-throw line.
TEAM NOTES
- Ranking in the Top 10 nationally in 3-point percentage defense, Fresno State has allowed over 45 percent shooting from 3 in back-to-back games.
- The Bulldogs have dropped back-to-back games for the first time since Jan 10-13.
