FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State held a 10-point advantage with just under five minutes remaining in Friday night's regular-season finale but New Mexico went on a 10-0 run late to force overtime and go on to win by a score of 93-89 at the Save Mart Center.
Candice White scored a game-high 32 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to record her fourth double-double of the season. QUOTES
Head Coach Jaime White on New Mexico fighting back for the win…
"It is one of those where we did what we had to do but those one or two stops towards the end are so vital and so important along with scoring on our end. Credit to New Mexico, I thought they did a great job. They came in here and did exactly what they needed to. We had an opportunity to win. I thought there were some late-game situations that were hard, we weren't getting to the rim like we needed to and things just weren't falling. We went empty on a couple of shots that really could have helped us."
Â
On Candice White…
"Candice has been a staple for us in the past two years. She has hit 1,000 career points in two seasons here, after only having 13 her freshman year. I give a lot of credit to her and what she can do offensively and what she has done for our program. She is a great local player, nicest person ever and I am sure she is a fan favorite."
Â
On facing Colorado State in the first round of the Mountain West Conference Tournament…
"It is a reset, and as far as I am concerned our record with them is 0-0. Colorado State is coming off of a bye week and has been practicing and getting ready for us. We need to get out there and do what we need to do to get it done."
