No. 3 Fresno State set to face No. 2 San Diego State in MPSF Playoffs

SAN DIEGO – The Fresno State women's lacrosse team will traveled to San Diego for the 2018 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Playoffs. No. 3 Fresno State will face No. 2 San Diego State in the semifinals on Friday, April 27 at 5 p.m. PT, San Diego State will host the playoffs this season.
The winner of Friday's game will punch their ticket to the 2018 Championship Game against No. 1 UC Davis on Sunday, April 29 at 1 p.m. PT.
"We are looking forward to a great opportunity this weekend," said head coach Jessica Giglio. "Our team is extremely capable and we love to compete and playoffs are a high stakes platform."

In conference play – Fresno State finished MPSF play in third place.
The Bulldogs fell to conference foes UC Davis (23-12) and SDSU (15-11). Fresno State is averaging 13.29 goals per game.
Fresno State women's lacrosse team received eight MPSF postseason awards, the most in program history. The Bulldogs chalked their first-ever MPSF Rookie of the Year in Mackenzie Wallevand, and tallied six All-MPSF Team honorees. Wallevand, Sarah Bloise, Tiffiny Wallace, Marina Mayo, Olivia Mannon and Hannah Krats represented the Bulldogs on the 2018 All-MPSF Team.
On the attack – Sarah Bloise led the team in goals (39), assists (20), points (59), shots (83) and shots on goal (62). Bloise is now the program's All-Time Career Leader in points, goals, assists, assists per game and shot attempts. The junior led the MPSF in points, goals, shots and free position goals. Bloise finished the season ranked within the top 100 nationally in free position goals per game (No. 9), free position percentage (No. 12), points (No. 66), goals (No. 91) and assists (96).
On defense – With loss of Olivia Mannon due to injury, Krats has stepped up for the Bulldogs. The freshman ranks second in MPSF in ground balls (31) and third in caused turnovers (20). Krats set a new Fresno State program record for most ground balls in a single season with a team-best 31. She recorded at least one draw control in 13 games, and recorded at least one caused turnover in 13 games. As a defender, Krats scored six goals and four assists from pushing fast breaks off the draw control.
In the goal – Sophomore Laurel Maunder has manned the goal for the Bulldogs, notching 137 saves on the season. She recorded .463 saves and a 11.47 goals against average.
SCOUTING THE AZTECS
SDSU finished the season with a 9-8 (1-1 MPSF) record. The Aztecs average 13.47 goals per game.
Jill Haight and Harlowe Steele lead the Bulldogs on offense. Haight has notched 35 goals and Steele has 34 goals. On defense, Taylor Sullivan has a team-high 17 caused turnovers. In the goal, Katy Sharretts has recorded 159 saves on the season. Sullivan has a 12.53 goals against average.
