'Dogs fall in semifinals to Aztecs

SAN DIEGO – The Fresno State women's lacrosse team fell in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation semifinal game 16-6, Friday night. The Bulldogs finished third in the MPSF.
Fresno State finished the 2018 season with a 9-9 overall record, tying the most wins in program history.
Nicole Ortlieb and Kayla Galet led the Bulldogs with two goals apiece. Sarah Bloise and Marina Mayo both notched a goal in the game to round out scoring in the game.
FIRST HALF
Bloise, Mayo, Galet, Hannah Galte, Lindsay Hobson, Tiffiny Wallace, Mackenzie Wallevand, Lofgan Esinger, Abigail Bergevin and Kennedy Mulvaney led the charge for Fresno State, with Laurel Maunder in the goal.
SDSU started the with a 6-0 run over the first 14 minutes of the game. Galet ended the run with a goal off free position shot, putting Fresno State on the scoreboard.
The Aztecs would bounce back going on a 5-0 run to end the half, making it an 11-1 game at halftime.
SECOND HALF
SDSU opened the half scoring five consecutive goals, making it a 16-1 game.
The Bulldogs finished the game on a 5-0 run. The run was sparked by a goal from Mayo and ended with back-to-back goals from Ortlieb.
