Giglio Announces 2019 Signing Class

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State lacrosse head coach Jessica Giglio announced the addition of five players for the 2019 season. The Bulldogs will reload with four midfielders and one defender.
"This class is a diverse group of talented lacrosse players ready to further advance this program's successes," said Giglio. "For us as a team to add these valuable athletes to our returning roster will make Fresno State's future bright."
Annie Morrison
Position: Midfield
Hometown: Cochrane, Alberta
High School: Saint Tims

Fresno State finished the 2018 season with a 9-9 (0-2 MPSF) record. The Bulldogs' rune ended in the semifinals of the MPSF Tournament, falling to eventual champion San Diego State 16-6. The Bulldogs broke 17 team records during the 2018 season. Fresno State had its first MPSF Rookie of the Year in Mackenzie Wallevand. Six Bulldogs were named to the All-MPSF Team, the most in program history. Fresno State had eight MPSF Player of the Week honors this season. The 2018 squad had a four-game winning streak on the road, the marking the most consecutive wins in program history.
The four newcomers will join 16 returning letterwinners for the 2019 season.

Alyssa Guidi
Position: Defender
Hometown: Stewartsville, N.J.
High School: Warren Hills High School

Alyssa Guidi, a Stewartsville, N.J., native, will be the lone defender in the class. Her career at Warren Hills High School resulted in 20 goals, 13 assists and 49 ground ball controls during her freshman through junior years alone. Among other accolades, Guidi was a three-year varsity letter winner while earning the Striving Streak Award in 2015, the Defensive Player of the Year award in 2016 and also being listed as an All-Area Girls Lacrosse Team Honorable mention and Second Team All-West Jersey in 2017. Off the field, Guidi volunteered with the Miracle League and served as a volunteer coach with the Washington Township Youth Association Girls Lacrosse Team.

Annie Morrison joins the squad as the team's second international player, hailing from Cochrane, Alberta, Canada. The midfielder participated in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League in Canada, accumulating 51 goals and 46 assists in in 40 games, while also leading her team in scoring and breaking the team record for goals and points during her senior season.
Sydney Skalstad
Position: Midfield
Hometown: Baltimore, M.D.
High School: Mount de Sales Academy

Sydney Skalstad a tri-sport athlete in high school, comes to Fresno State from Mount de Sales Academy. The Baltimore, Md., native played volleyball, basketball and lacrosse during her high school career. In basketball, Skalstad finished the 2016-17 season third in blocks in the state of Md. And notched 15 double-doubles during the 2017-18 season. In lacrosse, Skalstad was named a captain for the 2018 season after earning the Unsung Hero award in 2017 for scoring 24 goals, picking up 11 assists and managing 76 ground ball controls as a junior. As a senior, Skalstad put up 37 goals, 12 assists and 33 ground ball controls.

High School: Mount de Sales Academy
Sydney Skalstad a tri-sport athlete in high school, comes to Fresno State from Mount de Sales Academy. Jaimi Pollack is a three-year letter winning midfielder hailing from Centreville High School. The Fairfax, Va., native scored 29 goals, had 42 ground balls and had 66 draw controls as a sophomore. Those stats jumped to For those efforts, Pollack was selected to the All-Conference First Team as a sophomore. In her junior season, Pollack was named a captain and validated the move by being selected as First Team All-Conference, First Team All-Region and First Team All-State after tallying 43 goals, 46 ground ball controls and 96 draw controls. Outside of lacrosse, Pollack also played field hockey from her freshman through senior year, being named a captain and selected Second Team All-Conference her senior season. Off the field, Pollack was a member of the National Honor Society, an SGA board member and served and an SYA coach.

Kristen Zenor, a four-year starting midfielder from American Heritage High School, chose Fresno State proceeding a decorated high school career. The Boca Raton, Fla., native was named a US Lacrosse All-American and to the US Lacrosse South Florida National Team, on a national spectrum, along with being named First Team All-League, First Team All-Region, First Team All-District and First Team All-County in 2016 and 2017. Zenor was also named a varsity captain for her junior and senior seasons in 2017 and 2018. Statistically, Zenor accumulated 84 goals, 404 draw controls, 38 assists, 105 ground ball controls and caused 52 turnovers over the course of her high school career along with leading her team to a Florida state championship and No. 5 national ranking her senior season. Outside of her playing career, Zenor served as an assistant coach for Madskillz lacrosse and Boca Jet's Women's lacrosse. Off the field, she also worked at Habitat for Humanity and at the Tri-County Animal Shelter.
