Bulldogs head to Capital Cross Challenge

Races start at 9:50 a.m. with the men's 8K, followed by the women's 6K at 10:30 a.m..
FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State cross country teams travel to Sacramento on Saturday for their second race in as many weekends to compete in the annual Capital Cross Challenge.

BULLDOGS LINEUP
Racing on the women's side for the Bulldogs on Saturday morning will be Marlene Alcantar, Sydney Fox, Isabella Haberman, Sophie Jimenez, Maureen Jordan, Ellie Leather, Sami Shields, Sara Stevens and Hannah Wilson. The men's participants will be Nathan Burd, Josue Del Real, Ronaldo Delgado, Matthew Founds, Alekos Mitchel, Jaden Uphoff, Michael Viano and Ryan Walker.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bulldog men and women each placed third at the UNLV Cross Country Invitational last weekend. For the second straight meet it was sophomore Ellie Leather leading the women's team and freshman Jaden Uphoff pacing the men. Leather grabbed a third-place finish in the 5K at 19:17.9. Uphoff finished 10th in his first 8K at 27:28.9.
BULLDOGS ROSTER BREAKDOWN FOR 2018
The men's squad returned four of its five runners from last season which includes Jose Aispuro, Matthew Founds, Alekos Mitchel, Michael Viano and Ryan Walker. Newcomers to the roster are junior Ivan Cisneros-Rodriguez and freshmen Nathan Burd, Josue Del Real, Ronaldo Delgado and Jaden Uphoff. The lone returners on the women's side are Ellie Leather and Sami Shields. Joining them is seven new athletes which includes senior Marlene Alcantar, sophomore Sara Stevens and freshmen Sydney Fox, Isabella Haberman, Sophie Jimenez, Maureen Jordan and Hannah Wilson.

LOOKING AHEAD
Following back-to-back weekends with races, Fresno State will take next weekend off before traveling to the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational on Oct. 13.
