Successful Mountain West fundraiser to lead the Bulldogs’ development activities and staff.
FRESNO, Calif. --- Tim Collins has been hired as Fresno State's senior associate athletics director for development, Fresno State director of athletics Terry Tumey announced on Friday.
Collins brings more than 13 years of professional experience working in collegiate athletics both in fundraising and as a college basketball coach. For the past five years, he has served as the associate athletics director for development at the University of Wyoming.
"We are so elated to have Tim join us as the newest member of our Fresno State Athletics senior leadership team and the Bulldog family," Tumey said of Collins. "Tim's contributions to our program will be focused on celebrating current relationships, which have been critically important to the success of our student-athletes in competition and in the classroom, while also broadening our appeal and reach to individuals with the ability to help us elevate and sustain our athletic enterprise at the highest levels."
At Fresno State, Collins will be responsible for leading and managing all development and fundraising activities for the Department of Athletics, including supervision of fundraising staff in The Bulldog Foundation. The Bulldog Foundation is a non-profit organization responsible for raising funds to support student-athlete scholarships.

"My family and I are beyond excited to be joining the Red Wave," Collins said. "I am humbled to be able to embark on this journey with a dedicated leader in Director of Athletics Terry Tumey, as we work to elevate Fresno State Athletics and enhance the student-athlete experience."
Collins will report directly to Tumey and work in partnership with University Advancement to ensure coordination with campus wide development efforts. This position also serves as the primary liaison to The Bulldog Foundation Board of Directors.
"The opportunity at Fresno State is one that we were passionate about," Collins said. "As the son of an alumna, and having cheered on the Bulldogs at the '92 Freedom Bowl, I know firsthand how the Valley embraces Fresno State Athletics and its student-athletes."
Before joining the Bulldog family, Collins was an integral part in raising the necessary resources for many capital improvement projects, elevating the annual fund and enhancing the student-athlete experience at Wyoming.
Collins began his professional career at the college level in 2005-06 as the Director of Basketball Operations at Cal State Fullerton. Collins then moved up to an assistant coaching position at Chadron State College in Nebraska from 2006-08. From 2008-10, Collins was an assistant coach at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho. During his years at Lewis-Clark, he also served as an instructor in the kinesiology department, teaching classes on sports administration and coaching theory among other areas.
He moved to Black Hills State as an assistant basketball coach in 2010, and began making the move into an athletic administrative role during his time in Spearfish, eventually being promoted to the position of Assistant Athletics Director for Development and Fundraising in 2011.
Collins received his bachelor's degree in humanities, with an emphasis on political science, from Loyola Marymount in May 2005. He completed a master's degree in organizational management and sport administration from Chadron State in May 2008.
He and his wife, Renee, have a five-year-old daughter, Kennedy, and a three-year-old son, James.
