LOS ANGELES – Fresno State sophomore Trystyn Vuori has been named the Golden Coast Conference Player of the Week for games played through Tuesday, Jan. 29, the conference announced Thursday afternoon. It is the first career GCC weekly award for Vuori.
The Clovis, Calif. native led the Bulldogs' offense through the 2019 Cal Cup, scoring 10 goals over the course of the tournament. Fresno State took on four Top 15 teams over the weekend in No. 2 Stanford, No. 3 UCLA, No. 4 Cal and No. 11 Long Beach State.
Vuori scored a career-high four goals to lead Fresno State to an 11-9 upset over No. 11 Long Beach State. The attacker also scored three goals against No. 3 Cal, two goals against No. 2 Stanford and one goal against No. 3 UCLA.
This marks the first time in program history that Fresno State has notched back-to-back GCC Player of the Week awards. Emily Nicholson was named the GCC Co-Player of the Week on Jan. 24.
After starting the 2019 season unranked, the Bulldogs have pushed their way up to No. 14 in the national rankings.
