'Dogs place fifth at Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Fresno State women's golf team fired a tournament-best 3-under-par 285 in the final round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown at the Boulder Creek Golf Club on Tuesday. The Bulldogs finished the event in fifth with a 891 three round total (306-300-285). Tournament host UNLV was the team champion with its 879 (301-291-287).

Junior Brigitte Thibault had her fourth top ten finish of the season with a tied for sixth finish at the LVCS. Thibault fired a 2-over-par 74 in the third round on Tuesday. In the tournament, she had a 219 (70-75-74).

Sophomore Harriet Lynch had an impressive third round, shooting a 2-under-par 70 in the final round of the LVCS. Lynch had an even par on Monday to propel her 41 spots up the leaderboard. She advanced again today to finish the tournament tied for 17th.

Freshman Jinyoung Yun set a season-low and tied for the lowest single-round score of the tournament with a 68 in the final round on Tuesday. Yun fired her first-ever collegiate round in the 60's on the day. The true freshman finished tied for 20th, her second best finish of the year.

Sophomore Jessica Hall fell in the final day to T53rd after a 6-over-par 78 in the final round. Hall shot a 231 (76-77-78) in the tournament. Senior Kristin Simonsen shares the T53rd spot with Hall after a 1-over-par 73 in round three. Her third round score tied her lowest single-round score of the season.

Sophomore Delana Basanisi participated in the tournament as an individual and finished T88th with a 245 (85-84-76).

The Bulldogs are set for their winter recess before getting back to work in February at the Rebel/Beach Invitational.
