Benson signs Nieto Jasny for 2020

FRESNO, Calif.– Fresno State water polo head coach Natalie Benson announced the signing of Paula Nieto Jasny. Nieto Jasny will join the Bulldogs in January as a freshman with four years of eligibility.

"We are excited to have Paula Nieto joining us for the upcoming season," said Benson. "She has a wealth of high-level experience that will help our team reach the next level. Paula is explosive and quick, and she is able to add depth and competition in the goalkeeper position. We're excited to get her on campus this January!"

The Dalaga, Spain native will add international experience to the Bulldogs' goalkeeping unit. Nieto Jasny is a three-time Spanish Champion and helped lead Spain to the 2018 Youth World Championship title.

Nieto Jasny was named the best goalkeeper of Spain two times while playing on the national U15 team. She also owned the title in 2017 as part of the U16 team and in 2019 as part of the U18 team. She was also announced as the Young Promise of Narbella in 2015.

Nieto Jasny chose Fresno State because of the coaching staff and the support staff. She also believes that her goals align with the goals of the program.

The Fresno State women's water polo team will host the Canadian National Team on Nov. 7 in the Aquatics Center for a preseason scrimmage.
