Woodruff earns GCC Player of the Week honors

LOS ANGELES – Fresno State sophomore Callie Woodruff has been named the Golden Coast Conference Player of the Week for the games played through Tuesday, Feb. 12, the conference announced on Thursday. This is the second career GCC weekly honor for Woodruff.
The Baytown, Texas native helped lead No. 15 Fresno State to a 23-4 victory over Fresno Pacific in the Bulldogs' 2019 home opener. Woodruff tied her career-high by scoring five goals on five shots. The sophomore also dished one assist and swiped one steal in the game.
Fresno State leads the GCC in player of the week awards this season. The Bulldogs have received three of the first four weekly honors. Emily Nicholson was named the GCC Co-Player of the Week on Jan. 24 and Trystyn Vuori was named the GCC Player of the Week on Jan. 31. Â
After starting the 2019 season unranked, the Bulldogs have pushed their way up to No. 15 in the national rankings.
What's next – Fresno State will travel to compete in the Tina Finali Tournament hosted by Cal Lutheran Feb. 23.
