MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Fresno State women's tennis team dropped its opening match of the 71^st Annual Blue Gray National Tennis Classic to Texas Tech on Friday, falling 4-0 to the Raiders at the O'Connor Tennis Center in Montgomery, Ala.

DOUBLES
Texas Tech came out of the gate guns blazing for doubles. Kennedy Bridgforth and Lana Rush took the first doubles win, taking down Fresno State's tandem of Jennifer Timotin and Georgia Lawson on court one, 6-1. Felicity Maltby and Nell Miller later clinched the doubles point for the Red Raiders with a 6-2 win over Fresno State's freshman duo of Ella Husrefovic and Deniza Marcinkevica on court two, leaving court three's match unfinished.

SINGLES
In singles, Texas Tech didn't let up. Ranked No. 36 in singles by the ITA, Maltby put the Red Raiders up 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-2, win over Fresno State's Timotin on court one. Francesca Sella followed that by earning a 6-4, 6-0, win over Fresno State's Husrefovic on court two. The Red Raiders sealed the victory on court four as Anto Stoica knocked off Fresno State's Lawson with a 6-1, 6-1, victory. Although the 'Dogs fell 4-0, freshman A.C. Hummel continued to be a bright spot, winning her first set, 6-4, before her match concluded unfinished.

UP NEXT
Fresno State will be right back at it to take on Auburn in singles at 7 a.m. PT tomorrow at Lagoon Park in Montgomery, Ala., finishing the first round of consolation play. The Tigers took the doubles point earlier in the afternoon.
