Seven Bulldogs combine for 11 All-MW honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Six Fresno State swimmers and one diver earned Mountain West Swimming & Diving All-Conference honors based on their performances at the MW Championship last week in Minneapolis.

All-MW honors were awarded to the top eight finishers in the individual events and top three relay team finishers at the 2019 MW Championship. The seven Bulldog honorees led the team to a 5th place finish at the conference meet, its best since joining the league in 2012-13.

Sophomore Zofia Niemczak, the 2019 MW Champion in the 200 Butterfly, earned All-Conference honors in all three of her individual races as she also reached the final in the 100 Fly and the 500 Free. Niemczak became just the third Bulldog in program history to earn three All-MW honors in one season, joining swimmer Esme Gullick (2017) and diver Hannah Prigge (2013).

Two other Bulldogs earned multiple selections as senior Ugne Mazutaityte claimed the award in both the 100 Back and 200 Back and freshman Brenda Diaz Martinez was All-MW in the 1650 Free and the 400 IM. Mazutaityte earned the Bronze in the 200 Back, her third career medal in the event, and Diaz Martinez broke the program record in the 1650 Free.

Senior Osianna Mcreed received All-MW honors in the 50 Free, junior Manuela Mendolicchio earned the award in the 200 Breast after winning the bronze, and junior Kimberly Harbert was All-Conference along with Niemczak in the 200 Fly. Junior diver Irina Nikolaeva earned All-Conference honors on 1-meter for the second consecutive year after placing sixth overall.
