Skalstad tabbed MPSF Rookie of the Week
FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State lacrosse freshman midfielder Sydney Skalstad has been named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season after her outstanding efforts in the Bulldogs' games last week.

Skalstad has picked up the honor on four of six occasions this season.

On the week, Skalstad tallied 10 goals, 17 draw controls, two assists and two ground balls.
Â
The freshman got her week started with three goals against Virginia Tech on Tuesday and helped the Bulldogs to a pair of wins with three goals on Friday against Radford and a team-high four goals on Sunday against Quinnipiac. Her four goals on Sunday ties her single-game season-high for goals.

In the draw, Skalstad paired with junior Kayla Galet to work to win the possession for the Bulldogs. In three games, the freshman grabbed 17 total draws with a season-high nine in the Bulldogs' 15-14 win over Radford on Friday.

Her 10 goals and two assists tallied for 12 points on the week to move her up to fifth in the MPSF in points.

Skalstad currently leads the Bulldogs and is tied for fourth in the conference standings with 22 goals this season.

Skalstad and the Bulldogs will hit the road and face Bryant and Brown in Rhode Island on March 29 and 31, respectively.
