- Fresno State is 6-0 at home this season, sweeping six games when it opened its home schedule with the Bulldog Classic Mar. 7-10.
- The Bulldogs are 14-6 in non-conference games this season, having won eight straight non-conference contests before opening MW play last weekend.
- Since entering the starting lineup senior Jade Nua has a hit in eight straight games and is hitting .450 with a .577 on-base percentage.
- Rachel Minogue ranks as the sixth toughest player to strike out in NCAA Div. I as she has just one strikeout in 71 official at-bats this season.
- CSUN is 13-15 on the season after losing a home game to Dartmouth, 10-9, on Tuesday. The Matadors have a 3-2 road record this year.
- CSUN took a 10-9 home loss to Dartmouth on Tuesday, rallying back from a 10-0 deficit but coming up just short. The squad has played six ranked teams this season and has wins over San Jose State, 12-1, and Nevada among its 13 victories this year.
- The Matadors were picked to finish fifth in the preseason Big West poll after going 23-36 overall and 8-13 in conference last year.
- CSUN will be the sixth Big West team the 'Dogs have faced this year. Fresno State is 5-1 against the conference this season with wins over Long Beach State, Cal Poly, UC Riverside, and UC Santa Barbara (2) and a loss at Hawaii.
- Matador junior outfielder Megan Stevens is one of the top hitters in the country as she leads NCAA Div. I with 15 doubles this year and also ranks in the top ten in the nation in batting average (.512), slugging percentage (1.012), and on-base percentage (.583) with eight home runs and 33 RBIs.
- Top pitcher Jillian James leads the Big West and ranks sixth in Div. I with 126 strikeouts and she is 8-6 overall with a 2.14 ERA and .205 opposing batting average. Â
- Fresno State is 40-21 all-time against CSUN but the Matadors won the last meeting, beating the 'Dogs at the Mary Nutter Classic last year.
- Senior Jade Nua made her first start as a Bulldog against North Dakota on March 8 and hasn't left the starting lineup since, starting each of the last eight games with a hit in all eight contests.
- During the stretch she ranks second on the team with a .450 batting average and with a .577 on-base percentage with a home run, four RBIs, and three runs scored. Â
- Nua, a junior college transfer who had just three at bats in her first season with the 'Dogs last year, has started six games in right field and two as the designated player and has reached base in 10 straight games overall.Â
- Fresno State is 6-0 at home this season, sweeping six games when it opened its home schedule with the Bulldog Classic Mar. 7-10.
- In six home game the Bulldogs have hit .370 with four home runs and 11 doubles and scored 34 runs while also going 13-for-15 in stolen base attempts.
- The Fresno State pitchers have combined for a 1.71 ERA and .184 opposing batting average at home while allowing just 10 runs over 41.0 innings with 45 strikeouts. All three pitchers have ERA's below 2.35 this season at Margie Wright Diamond.
- Entering the week Rachel Minogue ranks as the sixth toughest player to strike out in NCAA Div. I, having struck out just one time in 71 official at-bats this season.
- Only five players in the nation have one or fewer strikeouts with more than 71 at-bats this year, with just one qualified hitter having not struck out at all this season. Minogue has just one K in 79 total plate appearances this year after striking out just six times all last year.
- Minogue's only strikeout this year came at No. 1 UCLA in Megan Faraimo's 5-inning no-hitter.
- Minogue is also hitting .459 with five doubles and nine RBIs over the last 11 games with six multi-hit games. Â
- As a team the 'Dogs are hitting .352 and averaging 5.5 runs per game over the last 11 contests.
- Colorado State's pitching staff entered last weekend with a 1.70 ERA and .194 opposing batting average while allowing just two runs per game on the year, but the 'Dogs hit .284 and scored 4.3 runs per game with the CSU pitchers posting a 4.55 ERA in the series.
- Miranda Rohleder enters the week having reached base in 11 consecutive games with hits in nine of the last 11 contests, including four multi-hit games.
- The junior second baseman is hitting .438 with a .550 on-base percentage during the streak, drawing eight walks and also going 3-for-4 in stolen base attempts.
- She has increased her season batting average by 157 points over the 11-game stretch.
- Fresno State had an eight-game winning streak leading up to the start of MW play.
- Over the eight games the 'Dogs hit .376 with a .559 slugging percentage and .455 on-base percentage.
- Fresno State's pitchers had a 1.43 ERA and .171 opposing batting average during the eight-game winning streak. They totaled 65 strikeouts to just 18 walks.
- The Bulldogs had two run-rule wins during the stretch and outscored their opponents 48-12, averaging 6.0 runs per game and allowing just 1.5 runs per game.
- Bulldog senior center fielder Vanessa Hernandez leads the Mountain West in home runs (6), doubles (11), slugging percentage (.791), and total bases (53). Her 11 doubles are tied for seventh most in NCAA Div. I this year.
- Over the last 11 games she is hitting .452 with a .526 on-base percentage and .903 slugging percentage. She has two home runs, eight doubles, 14 RBIs, and nine runs scored in the last 11 games.
- Hernandez has five multi-hit and five multi-RBI games during the streak.
- Fresno State is 12-0 this season when scoring first.
- The 'Dogs are 6-0 when leading after the first inning, 11-0 when leading after the second inning, and 11-0 when leading after the fifth inning.
- The Bulldogs have just two losses this season in games in which they held a lead.
- Despite two game times being moved due to rain, the Red Wave averaged 1,067 fans over the first six Bulldog home game. That average is 12th most in NCAA Div. I, second highest among non Power-5 schools, and the highest among all 20 Div. I schools in California.
- The Red Wave averaged 1,071 fans per game last season, the most in California and the 15th highest attendance average in the nation. The 'Dogs total attendance of 27,853 fans was 16th most in Div. I.
- Fresno State has averaged more than 1,000 fans per game for 26 consecutive seasons. No other MW team averaged more than 520 fans last year, less than half of the 'Dogs average.
- Fresno State has won exactly 17 home games in each of the last three seasons and has had a winning home record in all 41 years of the program's existence.
- Fresno State is 915-239-1 all-time at home in 41 seasons, winning over 79% of its home games in the program's storied history.
- In eight starts this season sophomore transfer Hailey Dolcini is 6-1 with a 1.32 ERA and .213 opposing batting average with 44 strikeouts in 42.1 innings pitched.
- Fresno State has won seven of Dolcini's first eight starts as a Bulldog and the sophomore has allowed two earned runs or fewer in all eight of her starts.
- Dolcini also started her Fresno State career with a bang as she was named MW Pitcher of the Week for her first week as a Bulldog.
- Fresno State has scored runs in the first inning six times this year and is undefeated in those games.
- However, the Bulldogs have done the bulk of their scoring in the fifth and sixth innings with 53 of their 116 total runs in just those two innings.
- The 'Dogs have outscored the opposition 36-13 in the sixth inning and later this year.
- The Mountain West Coaches selected Fresno State to finish second in the preseason conference poll behind only reigning league champion Boise State.
- The 'Dogs placed third in the league in 2018 and have finished in third place or better in each of their six years as a member of the MW with league titles in 2015 and 2016.
- The Bulldogs have totaled 93 runs scored in their 14 wins this season, averaging 6.6 runs per game while hitting .354 in the victories with four run-rule wins.
- By contrast, the 'Dogs have scored 23 total runs in their nine losses, an average of 2.6 runs per game, while hitting .190. Â
- Fresno State has two players named Vanessa Hernandez on the 2019 roster (no relation).
- The pair also have the same middle initial, M, and both middle names are five letters. The senior outfielder (#10) is Vanessa Monet Hernandez and the freshman infielder (#23) is Vanessa Marie Hernandez.
- To differentiate the duo, the senior is listed as Vanessa Hernandez and the freshman is Vanessa M. Hernandez. They also answer to Big Ness and Lil Ness, respectively.
