- Fresno State is 7-0 at home this season and San Jose State enters the weekend series having won 10 consecutive games. The Spartans were the only MW team not to open conference last week.
- The Bulldogs opened a season-long 10-game home stand on Wednesday with a 2-0 win over CSUN. Hailey Dolcini tossed her third shutout of the season allowing just four hits with six strikeouts.
- In seven home games this season the Bulldogs have hit .354 with four home runs and scored 36 runs while the pitchers have combined for a 1.46 ERA and .181 opposing batting average.
- Rachel Minogue is the fourth toughest player to strike out in NCAA Div. I with just one strikeout in 74 official at-bats this year. Only one player has more at-bats this year with just one strikeout.
- The 'Dogs were picked to finish second in the Preseason MW Coaches' Poll, behind only reigning champion Boise State, while San Jose State was picked third after finishing in second place in 2018.
- San Jose State has played just two true road games this year but has won both. Freshman Jenessa Ullegue is 8-2 with a 2.04 ERA and is hitting .440 this year. The 'Dogs swept SJSU last year in San Jose.
- San Jose State has won 10 consecutive games (all at home) after starting the season with a 10-9 record. The Spartans are 14-2 at home this year, 2-0 on the road, and 4-7 in neutral games.
- San Jose State was the only MW team that did not open conference play last week. SJSU went 6-0 in a home tournament last weekend and swept a doubleheader vs. Manhattan on Tuesday.
- The Spartans were picked third in the 2019 MW Coaches' Poll after finishing second last season.
- Freshman Jenessa Ullegue leads the Spartans with an 8-2 record and a 2.04 ERA and also leads the team and is second in the MW hitting .440 with a .500 on-base percentage and has 16 RBIs.
- As a team the Spartans rank seventh in the MW in batting average and are fifth in ERA.
- The Bulldogs swept a three-game series hosted by San Jose State last year, outscoring the Spartans 19-2. SJSU took 2-of-3 games vs. the 'Dogs the last time they met in Fresno in 2017.
- Fresno State is 7-0 at home this season, sweeping six games in the Bulldog Classic and topping CSUN, 2-0, on Wednesday.
- In seven home game the Bulldogs have hit .354 with four home runs and 13 doubles and scored 36 runs while also going 14-for-16 in stolen base attempts.
- The Fresno State pitchers have combined for a 1.46 ERA and .181 opposing batting average at home while allowing just 10 runs over 48.0 innings with 51 strikeouts. All three pitchers have ERA's below 2.35 this season at Margie Wright Diamond.
- Rachel Minogue ranks as the fourth toughest player to strike out in NCAA Div. I, having struck out just one time in 74 official at-bats this season.
- Only one player in the nation, Texas sophomore Janae Jefferson, has more at-bats than Minogue and one or fewer strikeouts. Two qualified hitters have not struck out at all this year but neither has more than 50 at-bats.
- Minogue's only strikeout this year came at No. 1 UCLA in Megan Faraimo's 5-inning no-hitter. She has just one K in 79 total plate appearances this year after striking out just six times all last year.
- Minogue is also hitting .441 with five doubles and nine RBIs over the last 12 games with six multi-hit games. Â
- In nine starts this season sophomore transfer Hailey Dolcini is 7-1 with a 1.14 ERA and .207 opposing batting average with 50 strikeouts in 49.1 innings pitched.
- Fresno State has won eight of Dolcini's first nine starts as a Bulldog and the sophomore has allowed two earned runs or fewer in all nine of her starts with three shutouts.
- Dolcini also started her Fresno State career with a bang as she was named MW Pitcher of the Week for her first week as a Bulldog.
- Fresno State is 13-0 this season when scoring first.
- The 'Dogs are 6-0 when leading after the first inning, 11-0 when leading after the second inning, and 12-0 when leading after the fifth inning.
- The Bulldogs have just two losses this season in games in which they held a lead.
- Senior Jade Nua made her first start as a Bulldog against North Dakota on March 8 and hasn't left the starting lineup since, starting each of the last nine games with a hit in all nine contests.
- During the stretch she leads the team with a .435 batting average and with a .552 on-base percentage with a home run, five RBIs, and three runs scored.Â
- Nua, a junior college transfer who had just three at bats in her first season with the 'Dogs last year, is also tied for the MW lead with 6 hit-by-pitches and has reached base in 11 straight games overall.
- Despite two game times being moved due to rain, the Red Wave has averaged 1,022 fans over the first seven Bulldog home game. That average is 12th most in NCAA Div. I, second highest among non-Power-5 schools, and the highest among all 20 Div. I schools in California (including No. 1 UCLA).
- The Red Wave averaged 1,071 fans per game last season, the most in California and the 15th highest attendance average in the nation. The 'Dogs total attendance of 27,853 fans was 16th most in Div. I.
- Fresno State has averaged more than 1,000 fans per game for 26 consecutive seasons. No other MW team averaged more than 520 fans last year, less than half of the 'Dogs average.
- Freshman McKenzie Wilson leads the 'Dogs and is tied for second in the MW with 14 stolen bases while being caught stealing just three times this year.
- Wilson has had at least one stolen base in six of the last nine games with two steals in three different games and just one caught stealing during the stretch.
- The 'Dogs are 10-5 with Wilson hitting leadoff this season as she is also hitting .338 and leading the team with 19 runs scored.
- As a team the 'Dogs are hitting .344 and averaging 5.3 runs per game over the last 12 contests.
- Colorado State's pitching staff entered last weekend with a 1.70 ERA and .194 opposing batting average while allowing just two runs per game on the year, but the 'Dogs hit .284 and scored 4.3 runs per game with the CSU pitchers posting a 4.55 ERA in the series.
- Bulldog senior center fielder Vanessa Hernandez leads the Mountain West in home runs (6), doubles (11), slugging percentage (.771), and total bases (54). Her 11 doubles are tied for ninth most in NCAA Div. I this year.
- Over the last 12 games she is hitting .441 with a .512 on-base percentage and .853 slugging percentage. She has two home runs, eight doubles, 14 RBIs, and nine runs scored in the last 12 games.
- Hernandez has five multi-hit and five multi-RBI games during the streak.
- Fresno State has won exactly 17 home games in each of the last three seasons and has had a winning home record in all 41 years of the program's existence.
- Fresno State is 916-239-1 all-time at home in playing its 42nd season, winning over 79% of its home games in the program's storied history.
- Fresno State has won nine straight non-conference games and is 15-6 in non-conference games this year.
- Despite MW play starting last week, the Bulldogs still have nine more non-conference games to play, all at home.
- The 'Dogs went 6-1 against Big West teams this year with wins over five different conference members.
- Miranda Rohleder has reached base in 11 of the last 12 games with hits in nine of the last 12 contests, including four multi-hit games.
- The junior second baseman is hitting .400 with a .512 on-base percentage during the streak, drawing eight walks and also going 3-for-4 in stolen base attempts.
- Fresno State has scored runs in the first inning six times this year and is undefeated in those games.
- However, the Bulldogs have done the bulk of their scoring in the fifth and sixth innings with 55 of their 118 total runs in just those two innings.
- The 'Dogs have outscored the opposition 37-13 in the sixth inning and later this year.
