Skalstad named MPSF Rookie of the Week for the third time this season

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State lacrosse freshman midfielder Sydney Skalstad was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Rookie of the Week for her contributions in the Bulldogs' trip to Florida last weekend, as announced by the conference on Monday.

Skalstad has been crowned MPSF Rookie of the Week on three of four occasions this season.

The Baltimore, Md. native scored four goals in two games for the Bulldogs. She opened her weekend with a team-best three points on a pair of goals and an assist, while also scooping one ground ball against Jacksonville on Friday. Skalstad continued her scoring run at Stetson, adding two goals in the Bulldogs' 19-11 road win. She also contributed with one ground ball against the Hatters. The freshman fired a team-high shot count in both contests on the east coast.

Skalstad has tallied 12 goals, eight draw controls, two ground balls and two caused turnovers this season. The freshman has been a staple in the Bulldog offense, scoring at least one goal in every game this season.

UP NEXT:
Fresno State returns to action with a three game home stand beginning on Tuesday, March 12 against Virginia Tech. Game action is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. PT.
The Bulldogs host Radford on Friday, March 15 at 5:00 p.m. PT and close out the home stretch against Quinnipiac on Sunday, March 17 at 11:00 a.m. PT.
