- After playing their first 14 games of the season away from Fresno the Bulldogs open the home slate hosting six of their own games and 14 total games in the Bulldog Classic.
- Fresno State plays 16 of its next 19 games inside Margie Wright Diamond, including a home MW series vs. San Jose State and the Fresno State Invitational.
- The Bulldogs went 2-1 at the Judi Garman Classic last week in Fullerton with two games cancelled due to rain. The 'Dogs picked up wins over Loyola Marymount and UT San Antonio and had a close 4-2 loss vs. No. 7/7 Tennessee.
- Freshman Danielle Lung was named MW Pitcher of the Week after allowing just one run in 10.0 innings pitched over two games, tallying 11 strikeouts and allowing only five hits.
- Fresno State averaged 1,071 fans per home game last season, the most among all 20 NCAA Div. I schools in California and the program's 26th straight year averaging more than 1,000 fans per game.
- UC Santa Barbara is 4-11 on the season and has lost six straight games, including losses to Cal and LIU Brooklyn at home last week. The Gauchos have wins over Sacramento State and Montana but have not hit a single home run this season, one of just five NCAA Div. I programs without a homer. UCSB is hitting .269 as a team with a 4.23 team ERA and Sammy Fabian leads the way hitting .385. The 'Dogs also hosted UCSB last year in a home tournament and won, 8-0.
- North Dakota enters the week on a four-game winning streak, beating Stetson twice and Mount St. Mary's twice at a tournament in Florida last weekend. UND also has wins over Michigan State and Long Beach State this year but lost to UNLV. Angel Love leads the team hitting .393 and is tied for 11th in Div. I with eight doubles but the Fighting Hawks have a 5.08 team ERA. The 'Dogs will be playing UND, which moved to Div. I in 2008, for the first time.
- Montana is 4-16, but all four of its wins are against California teams, including a 4-2 win over Cal Poly. The Griz have been defeated by San Jose State and Utah State. Picked fourth in the Big Sky preseason poll, Montana lost 11 seniors from last year and its pitchers have a 5.08 ERA as the team is allowing 5.9 runs per game. Maygen McGrath leads the team hitting .368 with three home runs and 10 runs scored. The 'Dogs beat the Griz 7-0 in the 2017 NCAA Regionals.
- California Baptist hosted Fresno State in its home opener on Feb. 18 and earned an 8-0 win. CBU beat South Dakota on a walk-off home run on Tuesday and is 4-11 overall with a 1-10 record away from home. Brittany Galvez homered twice against the Bulldogs and is hitting .326 on the year, one of three Lancers hitting better than .300. The squad is hitting .225 as a team with a 5.20 team ERA. CBU is in its first full NCAA Div. I season as a member of the WAC.
- Freshman Danielle Lung earned her first career MW Pitcher of the Week honor after allowing just one run over 10.0 innings in two game last week at the Judi Garman Classic.
- Lung threw 4.0 scoreless innings in relief against No. 7/7 Tennessee, which ranked 7th in the NCAA Div. I in scoring, and allowed just one run and had a career-high nine strikeouts in a six-inning complete game win vs. UT San Antonio.
- Lung became the second Bulldog to earn MW Pitcher of the Week honors this year as Hailey Dolcini received the award on Feb. 12 after the first week of the season.
- The Bulldogs begin their 28-game home schedule this week as they will play 16 of their next 19 games and 21 of the next 27 contests at home. Of the team's 40 remaining regular season games, 28 will be at home with just 12 on the road.
- Fresno State has won exactly 17 home games in each of the last three seasons and has had a winning home record in every year of the program's existence.
- Fresno State is 909-239-1 all-time at home in 41 seasons, winning over 79% of its home games in the program's storied history.
- Senior Vanessa Hernandez enters the week leading the MW in slugging percentage (.773) and tied for the conference lead with five home runs this season.
- In three games last week Hernandez hit 5-for-11 (.455) with two home runs, two doubles, and seven RBIs with 13 total bases and a 1.182 slugging percentage.
- For the season Hernandez also leads the team and is tied for third in the MW with 16 RBIs. In addition, she leads the team with five multi-hit games, including a pair of three-hit games, and is tied for the lead with six multi-RBI games.
- The red wave averaged 1,071 fans per game last season, the most among all 20 NCAA Div. I schools in California and the 15th highest attendance average in the nation. The 'Dogs total attendance of 27,853 fans was 16th most in Div. I.
- Fresno State has averaged more than 1,000 fans per game for 26 consecutive seasons. The Bulldogs had 17 home games with 1,000 or more fans last year while playing just one total road game with a crowd of 1,000 or more.
- No other MW team averaged more than 520 fans, less than half of the 'Dogs average.
- Fresno State has won every game this season in which it has taken a lead at any point.
- The 'Dogs are 5-0 when leading after the first inning and 6-0 when leading in the second inning or later.
- The Bulldogs are 6-0 this year when scoring first and have two come-from-behind wins.
- The Bulldogs have totaled 59 runs scored in their eight wins this season, averaging 7.4 runs per game while hitting .342 in the victories with three run-rule wins.
- By contrast, the 'Dogs have scored 10 total runs in their six losses, an average of 1.7 runs per game, while hitting .137.
- In seven games (six starts) this season sophomore transfer Hailey Dolcini is 4-1 with a 1.56 ERA, ranking second in the MW in ERA as she has allowed just seven earned runs over 31.1 innings pitched.
- Fresno State has won five of Dolcini's first six starts as a Bulldog and the sophomore has allowed two earned runs or fewer in all seven of her appearances.
- Dolcini started her Fresno State career with a bang as she was named MW Pitcher of the Week for her first week as a Bulldog.
- Fresno State has scored runs in the first inning five times this year and is undefeated in those games.
- However, the Bulldogs have done the bulk of their scoring in later innings with 53 of their 69 runs coming in the fourth inning or later.
- The 'Dogs have outscored the opposition 21-4 in the sixth inning and later.
- Senior Rachel Minogue and junior Hayleigh Galvan were All-MW selections last season and the duo continue to lead the offense.
- Galvan has reached base in all 14 games this season with hits in 13 of them as she leads the team hitting .400 with a .500 on-base percentage and is tied for the MW lead with six doubles.
- Minogue is hitting .341 with a .438 on-base percentage and 10 RBIs and has just one strikeout in 48 plate appearances.
- Fresno State has two players named Vanessa Hernandez on the 2019 roster (no relation).
- The pair also have the same middle initial, M, and both middle names are five letters. The senior outfielder (#10) is Vanessa Monet Hernandez and the freshman infielder (#23) is Vanessa Marie Hernandez.
- To differentiate the duo, the senior is listed as Vanessa Hernandez and the freshman is Vanessa M. Hernandez. They also answer to Big Ness and Lil Ness, respectively.
- Fresno State went 7-3 in neutral site games this year in three road tournaments.
- In neutral site games the 'Dogs outscored the opposition 57-27 with their pitchers posting a 2.51 ERA and a .216 opposing batting average.
- Fresno State has just four pitchers on its roster and one is redshirting, but the other three all have the potential to lead the staff.
- In addition to All-MW sophomore Danielle East, the 'Dogs added sophomore Hailey Dolcini, who was an NFCA All-Pacific Region selection last season and currently ranks second in the MW with a 1.56 ERA through seven appearances
- Fresno State also signed HS All-American and Clovis native Danielle Lung for the 2019 season after she won a state-record 92 games and had a 0.99 ERA in her HS career. Lung was named MW Pitcher of the Week on March 5 after a strong pitching performance at the Judi Garman Classic.
