Six Bulldogs earn All-MPSF honors, Skalstad named Rookie of the Year

The Bulldogs trek to Davis, Calif. for the MPSF Championship Tournament this weekend and will face the No. 2-seeded San Diego State on Friday at 5 p.m.
FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State lacrosse team had six sudent-athletes earn Mountain Pacific Sports Federation honors. The Bulldogs earned their second program Rookie of the Year award and picked up six All-MPSF selections.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
Freshman attacker Sydney Skalstad was named the 2019 MPSF Rookie of the Year after leading the Bulldogs with 31 goals, 84 shots, 42 draw controls and six hat tricks this season. She was fourth in the conference, and the highest ranked freshman, in goals scored. Skalstad inked her name in the Fresno State record book, ranking sixth in both goals and draw controls in a single season after just one year with the program.

The freshman Bulldog ranked 105th in the NCAA in goals per game with a 2.38 average - making her the ninth-highest ranked freshman in DI women's lacrosse. Her 38 points this season ranks sixth in the MPSF and her 42 draw controls places her in the top five.

Skalstad picked up five weekly honors this season and is the only freshman represented on the All-MPSF team this season. She represents Fresno State's second consecutive Rookie of the Year nod.

ATTACKERS
Junior attacker Tiffiny Wallace earned her third career All-Conference honor after finishing the regular season with 28 goals and 15 assists. She ranked fourth in the MPSF in points, third in assists and eighth in goals. Wallace became the first Bulldog in program history to score 100 career goals as she sits at 108 through April 20.

Skalstad also represented the Bulldogs as an attacker on the All-Conference Team.

MIDFIELD
Junior midfielder Kayla Galet picked up her first All-MPSF honor this season after finishing tied for second on the team with 28 goals, which tied her single-season high for goals. She set a new single-season high with 24 draw controls on the year and moves in to 10th in the Fresno State record book in career draw controls. Galet led the conference in shot percentage this season with a 0.596 mark, which proved to be enough to be No. 10 in the NCAA standings.

DEFENDERS
Junior defender Olivia Mannon picked up her second career All-MPSF honor as she finished the regular season with 23 ground balls, 17 draw controls and 12 caused turnovers. Mannon moved into third place in the Fresno State caused turnovers record book with 50 in her career, while moving up to fourth in career draw controls with 88.

Sophomore defender Abbigayle Roberts earned her first conference honor. Roberts got the start in all 13 games, tying for the team-high with 12 caused turnovers and finishing second on the team with 27 ground balls. The sophomore scooped a career-high six ground balls against Stetson to tie four fourth place in program history for ground balls in a single game. Roberts had at least one caused turnover in nine of 13 games this season with a six game streak spanning from February 15 through March 12.

GOALKEEPER
Junior goalkeeper Laurel Maunder was named to the All-MPSF team. Maunder shined in the cage for the Bulldogs this season, chalking 168 saves on the season while adding a team-high 32 ground balls to place her tied for second in the conference. The junior keeper was consistent at No. 2 in the NCAA standings in saves per game with a 12.92 average this season. She also ranked eighth in saves and 13th in save percentage in the national rankings.

Maunder set a new career-high and tied the single-game program-high with 20 saves at San Diego State on April 20. She now leads the all-time record with 441 career saves.
