Bulldogs earn CSCAA academic honors

COLORADO SPRINGS - The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA) has announced Fresno State as a Scholar All-America team for the Spring 2019 semester, the organization released on Tuesday.

"I am very proud of this team and how they did this semester," said head coach Jeanne Fleck. "We had a great year in the pool and in the classroom. This semester we had six individuals who earned a 4.0 GPA, and that is the most our program has ever had. It is a great accomplishment."Â

Fresno State had a 3.4 team GPA in the spring semester. This semester marks the 12th consecutive semester that Fresno State has earned the academic honor, while increasing the team GPA over the last four semesters.

Beth Wilson, Elizabeth Wenner, Emileigh Stock, Kelli Funk, Lucy Davies and Emily Ayers each led the Bulldogs with their 4.0 GPAs in the spring semester.

"Coach Fleck is one of our sport's unsung leaders - producing champions in the classroom and the pool," Â explained CSCAA Executive Director Greg Earhart.

To be named Scholar All-America, teams are required to post a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the semester and maintain a roster of 12 or more student-athletes. The CSCAA awards individual scholar awards once a year and will be released next week.
