95 student-athletes earn Academic All-MW Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fresno State had 95 student-athletes named to the spring 2019 Academic All-Mountain West team as announced by the league on Monday. The Bulldogs landed within the top five of the conference, while also having 90 or more student-athletes selected to the spring team for the fifth consecutive year.
The conference announced a record-breaking 1,021Â student-athletes were named to the spring 2019 Academic All-MW team. The mark surpasses the previous conference record of 1,000 spring-semester honorees, set during the 2017-18 academic year.
Eligible selections must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or better, in addition to being a starter or significant contributor on their respective athletic team. Spring sports include baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's golf, women's golf, softball, swimming and diving, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's track and field.
The swimming and diving team the led the way for the fifth consecutive year, earning 22 selections. Women's track and field grabbed 15 selections followed by softball with 11. Men's track and field led all men's teams with 10 on the list.
Women's basketball had nine honorees followed by baseball (8), women's tennis (7), women's golf (6), men's basketball (3), men's golf (2) and men's tennis (2).
In addition to the 151 total Academic All-MW selections for the academic year, Fresno State student-athletes also had 30 all-academic honorees from its four programs that compete in other conferences: women's lacrosse had a conference-best 16 student-athletes named all-academic from the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), equestrian had six honorees from the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) and water polo had eight selections from the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC).
Altogether, 181 Bulldogs earned academic all-conference honors for the 2018-19 academic year.
