FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State head coach Jessica Giglio announced the addition of Bulldog alumna Kara Concheck to the lacrosse coaching staff on Monday. Concheck comes to the program as one of two assistant coaches, joining second-year assistant Elisabeth Blackwell.
Â
"I want to thank head coach Jessica Giglio and Fresno State Athletics for the opportunity to be back here in the Valley, now as a coach for the women's lacrosse program," said Concheck. "The commitment, pride and traditions of being a Bulldog run strong through my veins. I am excited to assist in continuing to develop our student-athletes into confident, relentless and selfless competitors while taking the program to new heights. Go 'Dogs!"
Â
Concheck returns to the Bulldog family after spending the last four seasons (2016-19) as head coach at Saint Francis. She became the program's all-time winningest coach in 2018 and won 21 games in her tenure at the helm of the Red Flash.
Â
As head coach for the Red Flash, Concheck boasted a team that sat highly in all offensive categories in the Northeast Conference. She also developed eight All-Conference selections in her four years.
Â
Prior to her time at Saint Francis, Concheck was named a lacrosse assistant coach at Oberlin College. She spent three seasons there (2014-16) and helped the team to a North Coast Athletic Conference championship appearance in 2015. During her time at Oberlin College, she also taught a women's strength training course and a conditioning course.
Â
Concheck graduated from Fresno State in 2014 and spent four years in the lacrosse program. Concheck left the Bulldog lacrosse program as the all-time leading scorer with 73 career goals and 85 career points. Her offensive efforts did not go unnoticed as she was selected to the All-MPSF second team in 2014 and was named the team's Offensive Player of the Year that season.
Â
The native of Columbus, Ohio graduated from Fresno State in 2014 with a degree in recreation administration.
Â
"I could not be more excited to add Kara back to our Bulldog family," said Giglio. "When I think of the term 'Bulldog Born, Bulldog Bred' I can't imagine it being more applicable to anyone other than Kara. She had a great career as a player here and we are looking for her knowledge to continue to elevate this program. I love her energy and passion and know that she will grow our team this season, on and off the field."
Â
Last season, Fresno State had a record-breaking year with a 7-7 record while earning their first-ever program win over Oregon. Fresno State had six All-MPSF selections, two All-MPSF Tournament team nods and earned the program's second MPSF Rookie of the Year. The Bulldogs welcome back 13 letterwinners and are joined by the addition of 10 freshmen to the 2020 squad.
