Bulldogs shut out Weber State, 2-0

OGDEN, Utah -Â The Fresno State women's soccer team finished the weekend with two wins, after defeating Weber State 2-0 on Sunday afternoon.Â
Emma Chivers became the Bulldogs' leading scorer this season after netting her third goal of the season to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 advantage. Sheyenne Hodge sealed in the victory for Fresno State with her first collegiate goal, giving Fresno State up 2-0 before halftime. The Bulldogs were able to keep the Wildcats off the board in the second half to record their first shutout of the season.Â
Fresno State improves to 3-1-1 (0-0-0 MW) on the season.Â
Chivers, Tori Nicolo, Kasidee Wiley, Megan Amick, Melissa Ellis, Elle Avery, Robyn McCarthy, Lorena Montanes, Danielle Pacheco and Mariona Segales chalked the start for the Bulldogs, with Milena Zink in goal.Â
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
Fresno State's offense set the tone to start the match taking four consecutive shots.Â
Chivers put the Bulldogs up 1-0 when she found the back of the next in the 30th minute off a pass from Avery.Â
The Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead in the 44th minute when Hodge connected with Chivers to score her first collegiate goal.Â
Fresno State took the 2-0 lead into halftime. The Bulldogs' defense kept the Wildcats shot-less, while the Bulldog offense tallied nine. Fresno State also owned the advantage in corners 8-0.Â
The Wildcats took their first shot of the match to start the second half, but Zink was there to grab the save. Weber State quickly sent a second shot at the goal but once again Zink was there for the save.Â
Fresno State played stingy defense for the remainder of the match, keeping Weber State off the board to record its first shutout of the season.Â
